Because to those rich people, this is just a toy, which of course needs a cute nickname.
Greedy dealers have already successfully inflated the price of 36mm explorer. This one is next I guess.

Hype on the grey market will do that, and the people who are well known on it will enjoy continuing to hype it for that exact reason.

I’m curious as to if the original Kermit will drop in price now the new one is out. I think the og size is better.

I think they might drop from their current inflated price, but still keep a little bit of that inflation since it has a different size and will be held as the "original" me thinks. One can only watch from afar though. Point for me being, Im saving up for a gold Daytona to match all my Speedys. A man can dream of sub-dials, but not of Subs for me. 😀

If I’m going green, give me 4 of these bad boys straight from the OB no discount. And still some money left over.

I was totally diggin’ this but then I saw it in the flesh and was somewhat disappointed with the colour of the dial. Even though I was sceptical about the two different shades of green on the 116610LV, I must say it is one of my favourite green watches. I sometimes borrow my wife’s and it really is quite good 🥰

Oh that’s interesting, in what way? I’ve yet to see it in the flesh, but hoping it’s a true olive color.

just seen this on ebay, got to be crazy??

Not crazy, but just because there are lunatics who demand 24k or even more.. does not make those amounts as the market value.

The equation of want/time*money always comes into play.

I bought a brand new one in June 2020 and sold it to a dealer a few days before the Rolex announcement for £13850 unworn. To be honest I don’t see what people drool about with this watch I’d much prefer a no date Submariner.
So with the profit I made I got a gold/black Seamaster 300 on leather with a gold Omega clasp for nothing.

@Evitzee & Marsimaxam

Well seeing as you both brought up the Snoopy Speedmaster and you think the Rolex Hulk is expensive how about a Snoopy for the awesome price of just £34,250 and no I'm not making it up it's from a well known company specialising in the secondary market here in the UK. Which means whoever sold it to them would of picked up a little shy of £25,000 not a bad return on investment for sure.

Marc
Marc, I said,"I also prefer the silver snoopy Speedmaster with the cartoon character on the watch over the hulk anytime."
I didn't say I'd buy it at today's insane market price, and I am well aware of how expensive a white dialed Snoopy can be in today's market, but, at least the Speedmaster is a limited edition, 1970 pieces, and only produced for one year, whereas the Hulk has been around for about 10 years.
Take care... great first name, but spelled wrong.
Mark

geez, everyone is getting so riled up. I bought a hulk earlier this year, I love it, great watch. wish I bought it years ago for retail instead of paying stupid prices this year, but hindsight is 20/20. Everything else I have is vintage, but for me it's a great daily. I think the older and brand new case styles are a bit more refined, but whatevs, not losing any sleep over it.

A fool and his money...
Pretty hard to be a fool yet accumulate enough money that you can easily drop $24k on a watch in my opinion.

The negligent trust fund kids beg to differ.

People are actually paying. That's why dealers are hyping.

Nobody will buy it. It might just be a seller who wants to artificially bump up the perceived price of this model so his other advert at £19k seems like a bargain in comparison. And if someone does happen to buy it, bonus!

I suspect this happens all the time.

I have a collection of vintage vacuum tube audio gear and I occasionally buy and sell. eBay hosts a few individuals who post a pristine highly regarded or rare amp or preamp at a ridicules price. Some have been listed for years. There are buyers who have more money than common sense or simply must have an item and are willing to pay because they can. My perspective is from a modest position so I don't judge what others do.

I see the price of Hulks has now plummeted. On Facebook at least. Oh, and you also have to be the Hulk (or at least be a green man) to buy one apparently.

I wouldn't pay $24.00 for that butt ugly green thing with the childish nickname. I find it odd that the well off people who crave these watches are determined to assign them kindergarten corny, trite, and hackneyed nicknames.
Like the Ultraman or the Moonwatch....

I don't think it needs to be taken too seriously. At least Rolex is not calling them that, it's just us.
