Click on the magnifying glass at the top right of the page next to the small picture of your avatar.

Thank you all! However, when I click on the magnifying glass it opens the "forum" scroll down. I will log out and see if that works, unless there is no way to search a particular thing
Please excuse my inexperience on the site -Ron

Given the amount of Speedmaster freaks, maybe I should have said "click on the lollipop hand at that top right of the page next to the small picture of your avatar." 馃檮 馃う

What browser are you running? There's a keyword box at the top once you click on the search page

Thanks to everyone! Solved!! When I turned my iPhone 5 horizontally, it let me search! When it's held in the vertical position, I can only scroll through the forums. I guess the old man can still learn.
Sorry unable to to personal responses to everyone, yet! -Ron ()

I often find google's search is better than the in-house one, especially for small and common terms. Just use site: omegaforums.net after your search term.
Please note there is no space between the colon and the "o" but I have to put it here or it changes to 馃槻

Thank you for this discovery and for posting the solution! I too always wondered why I could not search on my iPhone. I turned it 90 degrees and it works. Thanks for your post.

I remember I experienced this issue long ago and didn't try the horizontally position, so couldn't solve the problem and never tried it again untill now.
I just tried on my iPhone running iOS 9.2.1 and it worked horizontally and also vertically, so it will maybe work different deppending on what version of iOS you are running.

I'm on iOS 9.2.1. On an iPhone 6s the search function only works horizontally. On an iPad it works both horizontally and vertically.

It seems like a bug related to screen size? Vertically on the iphones when I touch the search icon it responds as if I've touched the menu icon. Touching the avatar or PM icons operate properly.

Ok, I think I got it!

If you set your phone screen and brightness settings to Standar screen mode instead of Zoom, it will work both ways.

I have it set to Standard view, but look what happens if I set Zoom view:
