How to recognize early seamaster 300 Bakelite bezels?

Hi!
Is there a website or forum thread focusing on early seamaster bezels? It seems most of them did not survive and many were restored by specialized craftsmen.
I’m having trouble though finding side by side comparisons to try and educate my eye to wether or not it’s an original one...I’m guessing I’m not the first one asking this question so maybe it’s been assessed elsewhere?

For example, is this insert legit? If not, is it the typo, the texture? Is the UV test efficient?
Thanks for any help!

Well, there is a lot of info on 165.024/166.024 but not so much from what I’ve found on ck2913. I’ve found the 8 variations’ descriptions with which had what hands/caseback/bezel style, but failed to find specific info on bezels (details, macros...)
But I keep looking! 😁

One good rule of thumb is when the seller (as is the case of the above 2913) has any doubts about the originality of the bezel, it’s redone.

Ahah Most likely true!
I dug up an interesting thread on the 14755 you sourced in 16’ that had a lot of info, so thanks! 😉

You’re welcome.
That would be this example. It is rather nice.😁

If it is this one, you finally decided to have it relumed! The one I’m talking about had dark/no lume!

You have too many! 😁
By the way, what did you think of the one I posted as an example, bezel apart (although I could not find evidence of it being clearly redone from those pictures). The dial/hands seemed original but the case hard to evaluate with the bad lighting « smoothing » everything...

I believe the watch in question is this one?

https://www.ebay.it/itm/58-Omega-Seamaster-300-CK-2913-3-SC-cal-501-vintage-Diver-Original-verified/164587675617?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

Auction closed at slightly less than USD 7k, even if this was for spare parts (and some of those not in great shape such as caseback) looks like an ok deal

best

yes, it’s this one 😉
The caseback was bad indeed. Hard to evaluate the lugs from the overexposed pictures. The dial seemed original with a high Geiger reading (the seller sent me a picture with a 7uS/h)...The bezel was the big question 😁

While I’m at it, here are the additional pictures I got for this watch. If anyone has some thoughts to share, I’d be happy to hear them on this one, to know if I was right to let it go in the end! 😁
