Early Seamaster 300 with 2824 movement Questions???

The 2531.80 (AKA Bond SMP Auto) never had a 2824 movement of any kind. All 3 auto variants are 2892-2 based and have 21 jewels. They only varied in the first year of production, circa 1994, when from memory the 1108 and 1109 were used, from then on exclusively the 1120 was used. Since this is not commonly known, there is no detectable difference in value between the 3.

If you have found a Bond SMP with a 2824 inside, then something is very wrong.

ps while all are called 2531.80 for retail purposes, the case number stamped on the inside of the caseback does differ between examples, there have been at least 2 I am aware of, maybe more.

pps in 2008 when the co-ax 2500C movement model was launched, the PIC code changed from 2531.80 to something about 14 digits long which I cant be bothered to look up. The 2500 is also loosely 2892-2 based,

I’d say the early 1109 watches with tritium dials are just starting to demand a slight premium over the superluminova models.
