How to date a modern Speedmaster?

My Ultraman Speedmaster was on a 7881(3) serial and was collected by myself mid September 2018. Those were delivered as soon as they were ready without any hanging about in safes or shop windows so likely left Bienne August to September that year. I don't think you can get a more firm indication than that.

It is the next digit on my serial, it will give you an indication how close to my serial yours is.

for what it is worth;
my 45Anniversary Apollo 17 (2017) has the reference of 7876xxxx

although i had remarked against a simplistic ordering of serial numbers in recent years for inferring manufactured dates given :
my 50A A11 of 2019 has the reference of 82xxxxxx
my aventurine blue of same 2019 has the reference of 89xxxxxx
my seamaster bought in 2007 (13 years ago) has the reference of 81xxxxxx

Interesting, thanks for sharing that. I wonder if the serial number dating might work if you stick to the same model.

at this point in my rookie Omega knowledge, i don’t know what a 50A A11 is

Came across this thread trying to date a different Omega but I can contribute the serial number of my modern speedy in hopes that it helps someone else get a better idea about the age of their speedy.

Mine is from 04/2018 purchased from an AD on 08/2018 and the first five of the serial number are: 7879(1)
