Are these stepped pies rare haven't seen many around... I think this goes back to the same explanation may be at that time people would have gone for a Grand Luxe instead of a stepped Deluxe Pie

Definitely a lot less common that mirror deluxes though we have a lot of members here with excellent examples, cristos71 has one on flat link 7077 that looks epic.

There's also some Seamasters with them floating around too

This one was just under $5k head only but that was a few years ago now, since then a few guys have made some big offers on it but it and its two siblings are the last watches I would ever sell no matter how big the offer. The non-stepped one I bought after was $5k, and the non-stepped date at three was 4.3k from memory, but the date at three non-stepped is the most common, though still far rarer to find than a Constellation.

Weirdly the hardest to find actually seems to be the mirror dial 2757 deluxe date at six, there are three that have turned up, but both of the other two were refinished dials, one decently, one very badly.

Also... this thread needs more pictures of stepped piepan dials :)

Wow i never knew there is Deluxe Pie with date at 6... Now that would be a interesting search...

How much Stepped Deluxe pies range from? I assume less than a Stepped Seamaster?

Sorry I'm still talking about a Seamaster, its exactly the same as the one I posted with the stepped dial except it has a mirror dial rather than a stepped dial, its a slightly different case but extremely similar. There are no Constellations with date at six because the two date at six movements (353 & 355) were never made in Chronometer versions and all Constellations have to be chronometers. In the pic below its the one on the left:

Still at 3/4, the stepped three eludes me at this stage. There are three that I know of, but their owners like them too much to sell them (two do, one I can't find). The hunt is all part of the fun though. Sorry for threadjacking btw, this was meant to be about stepped deluxe Constellations :D

Incidentally this thread still needs more pics!

The best thing about the no dates is you can just pick them up, wind them and you're good to go. Every time you wear a vintage watch with date someone says "the date's wrong" because they're never set and you have to tell them how quickset wasn't around on 50s watches.

    Yep.

I rarely set my 'date' watches to the date anymore, even my quicksets, I'm so lazy!

No, I guess I stole it from another site... I just did a 'search-and-copy' :D
