Hi All,

I know Rolex change font every now and then, but do you have any idea why? Especially when it is in a short period of time.

exemple, on an Op39 white dial, which is not old, I think they have changed de font since end of 2019 / beginning 2020.

Look at the pictures below, both from the Rolex official web site:
First one, new font with the « R » from Rolex starting above the end of the « T » from Oyster and « X » ending above the « T » from perpetual (new version)

Here is the second pictures, older dial, look at the « Rolex » which is more on the left from « oyster perpetual » than the previous, the « x » of Rolex ending above the « e »

Do you think they do that in order to be able to check the authenticity regarding the year on the card or something like that?

I don’t think they ever do it for an specific reason (like to check authenticity). From time to time the dial manufacturers make slight changes. In this case though it looks like you’re comparing an image with another dial. Rolex will use clip art and graphic designers on their website that doesn’t always perfectly match up with the actual watch.

Yes, but looking at chrono24 I found this 2 exemples depending on the year (2020 or older) So there is definitely 2 differents dial for this exact 114300 OP

I was curious about this myself, from what I gather there is no rhyme or reason. I am an amateur, but the wimbledon came out of the blue.

Do you think it can come down to changes in software/hardware and/or remaking printing dies during the production run. These differences seem like they fit into the normal variances of business as usual.

Not nearly as often as they used to.
Rolex used to have the dials done by other companies so there were variations.
Now everything is done in house so while it does happen its not as often or drastic as it used to be.
In house and as mentioned above with it being digital now just not as often.

Rolex still have dials and cases done by other companies.
They just bought Large parts of or all of the companies so nothing really changed but what the Rolex marketing machine tells you. 😉
