How often do you see ANY nice watch in the wild?

·I think that in 90% of cases I don’t spot other than cheap rubbish, smart watches, Citizens and Seikos. I rarely see people wear nice vintages. The times I have and struck up a conversation, the wearers had no idea what they were wearing. It was ”just a watch” they got somewhere. But recently at work I saw one of the chief officers wear a Panerai, but I didn’t want to strike up a conversation about watches. I was afraid he’d think I was impressed by it which I’m absolutely not.

·Absolutely. I love them. I only meant that Seiko is a big big common brand.
Modern Seiko is not a favorite of mine but I continue to think vintage Seiko is almost undervalued. I have several and would struggle to contain myself if I ever saw someone in the wild wearing a vintage Seiko.

·Last year I was on a flight home from Virginia Beach when I noticed the gentleman across from me wearing something that looked pretty high-end. When I asked him about it, it turned out to be the same 16600 Sea-Dweller that I have! He was super friendly and was quite casual about wearing it.

·I occasionally see modern Rolex at many of the larger US airports. Just spotted a two tone GMT at LAX. Not surprised given how many are made….

·In Nicaragua it feels like I am the only one wearing a watch that is not made of plastic or the size of a wall clock. Well there is one Dutch guy that has an Omega and one time in the capital I saw whole family clad in all Rolex watches in a nice Sushi place. Otherwise very slim pickings...
On the positive side you can wear any nice watch without fear of getting robbed since nobody knows about them 😀
