How often do you see ANY nice watch in the wild?

I think that in 90% of cases I don’t spot other than cheap rubbish, smart watches, Citizens and Seikos. I rarely see people wear nice vintages. The times I have and struck up a conversation, the wearers had no idea what they were wearing. It was ”just a watch” they got somewhere. But recently at work I saw one of the chief officers wear a Panerai, but I didn’t want to strike up a conversation about watches. I was afraid he’d think I was impressed by it which I’m absolutely not.

Absolutely. I love them. I only meant that Seiko is a big big common brand.

Yes, only teasing 😀

Modern Seiko is not a favorite of mine but I continue to think vintage Seiko is almost undervalued. I have several and would struggle to contain myself if I ever saw someone in the wild wearing a vintage Seiko.

Last year I was on a flight home from Virginia Beach when I noticed the gentleman across from me wearing something that looked pretty high-end. When I asked him about it, it turned out to be the same 16600 Sea-Dweller that I have! He was super friendly and was quite casual about wearing it.

Ploprof 600 daily user stunnig Omega among My other watches.

Love this, never think of wearing mine outside of the cuff or over shirts. Usually more a summer watch since I got the Summer Blue version.

I occasionally see modern Rolex at many of the larger US airports. Just spotted a two tone GMT at LAX. Not surprised given how many are made….

In Nicaragua it feels like I am the only one wearing a watch that is not made of plastic or the size of a wall clock. Well there is one Dutch guy that has an Omega and one time in the capital I saw whole family clad in all Rolex watches in a nice Sushi place. Otherwise very slim pickings...
On the positive side you can wear any nice watch without fear of getting robbed since nobody knows about them 😀

No picture but I just met a customer wearing a yellow gold datejust. He liked my Tudor Black Bay chrono.

Guy sitting near me on plane right now is wearing an older Breitling Navitimer. These are hard to miss with their size and toothy bezel inserts.

I've only ever seen one of these in the wild, they're way too big for me but people seem to love 'em.
