How often do you see ANY nice watch in the wild?

I rarely see people wearing watches at all apart from Apple watches or "fashion brands" like Gant, Daniel Wellington, and Rega. Off the top of my head, the most notable one I've spotted lately is a yellow Seiko 6139 "Pogue" on the wrist of a fellow commuter.

I see modern luxury watches on people's wrists daily, but I stopped into my local pub one Friday in June after work, and the gentleman beside me, well into his late 60's was wearing this! I believe it's an Autavia 7763, a watch his father gave him on his 16th birthday and he had no clue of its monetary value, but clearly this piece meant a lot to him, and it's his daily wearer.
Pair of really lovely watches, taking into account the perspective, that compressor-style case on the Autavia looks bigger than the 42mm on the SM 300? I always thought they were smaller. Could do with a nicer bracelet, tropic strap or similar..

LOT of watches at the Delta Sky Lounge in JFK. Lots of new stuff I didn't recognize. Men and women still wear watches.

Saw a Speedy and jumped on the guy. Fortunately he was happy to talk about his watch. Asking him how he got interested in Speedmasters, he said he loved Apollo and worked in Formula 1 for FIA. Makes sense.

Talked a lot about Apollo and SpaceX. He knew his stuff. What was really fun was that he didn't know his watch was an 1861. He knew it was the Moonwatch before the newest one, but he wasn't a watch savant. This was his only watch because, why not? It's a grail watch. I kind of envied him, the one and done.

Two in my local pub; Longines chronograph and a classic gold watch, may have been a Omega.

Went to a neighboring township community fair today wearing the usual Speedmaster. Tons of Apple watches but a fair amount of real watches too. Mostly fashion stuff. But one woman right next to me had a two-tone Rolex DateJust along with a massive diamond ring and tons of other wrist jewelry. Exciting times.

Saw a guy wearing a dark side of the moon speedy about 2 weeks ago at Denver baggage claim. It took me a minute of starting to figure it out. If it wasn’t a red eye flight and the guy didn’t have 2 young daughters hassling him, I would’ve spoken to him. Exceptional under the radar watch choice in my opinion.

Seen on another diner's wrist at a local ale house: Rolex Explorer, recent large size.

I'm visiting Vancouver. In some parts of town, I swear they must issue 6-digit subs to people when they move here. I've never seen so many Rolexes per capita. I'm also seeing a lot of Omega Seamasters.

Chap on the 390 bus from King's Cross/St. Pancras (London) was wearing a solid gold mid-60s Connie. He boasted (slightly) that "a man in Spain offered me 2000 euros cash for it." My response: "that man was trying to rip you off!"

Pretty common to see $30,000- $50,000 watches at a McDonalds or PetSmart and Costco. People here drive Ferrari to the grocery store. Saw once three white Lamborghini at a stop light before they turned into the VONS grocery store (see below the Huricans). If you wait long enough, someone will drive a Ferrari past you or walk past you with a Rolex.

There are a lot of watch stores one after another.

Something like these will set you appart from the crowd.

Maybe not this one. Took me 10 minutes to explain to the IWC Boutique it is an IWC... Salesman had never seen a DIE GROSSE FLIEGERUHR 431

This store is weird, they don't sell watches but they like to have you come to their monthly mixer after work for drinks and conversation with other F.P. Journe owners. They arranged golf with members. And they do have watches you can wear, but they will not sell any here.

This is F.P.'s brother. Laurent Journe.

Just returned from a trip to Berlin. Saw too many Rolex Subs to count. Most interesting watches I noted were:

1. A new Speedmaster on a younger guy. He had it on an alligator strap and I think it was the new sapphire model, but I didn’t get a good look.
2. Another young guy with a Bond Seamaster. Couldn’t tell if it was a new one or older one, or the color, but the bracelet was obvious.

and the most interesting:

3. An older guy at dinner wearing a 1990s era gold/steel Constellation Manhattan. Looked to be 35-36mm and was probably quartz, but I thought it was cool he’d probably been rocking it for decades.

This place sometimes is excessive consumerism. So you can go to a Costco in LA now and buy at a discount a Maseratti.
and fill it up with 80 inch televisions at a discount. I am sure this is not common in the rest of the United States. It's strange for me
to see Mercedes S class, Porsche, and Maseratti selling at Costco membership prices no matter how often I see it.
In a way it is nice since you already get the discount on the $100,000 vehicles.

So you can go to any restaurant or airport lounge and see how many Submariner Rolexes you can count they are as common as dirt except in the Rolex stores at the moment.

I used to think Aston Martin was an exclusive brand, but when they are now commonly used as billboards...
Nobody even looks at them coming out of the James Bond movie. My friend works at Cognizant.

Dunno you’d fit an 80” telly in a proper Maserati, I s’pose you might fit one in that stupid SUV thing they make

LA there is no end to cars that shouldn't be SUV. There is someone in the area that has a orange Lambo SUV. I see a white Bentley SUV. There are two Rolls Royce SUV that I see once in a while somewhere around town.

And I always joke that the Lambo SUV just looks like a newer Pontiac Aztek.
