·I'm often in meetings with executives at a Fortune 100 company, but these days I would say 9/10 of them are wearing Apple watches...the other 10% usually have a rolex.
Quite literally saw one in the wild this weekend. Guy was hiking up The Angel’s Rest trail in the Columbia River Gorge in a 16753. I commented that he had a good looking Root Beer on and he told me he’d owned it for more than 30 years.
Didn’t get a photo of the watch, but I did get some of the views.
Was at a bar the other day and ran into a guy wearing a newish Daytona. He was probably 30ish. I said, “Nice Daytona.” He said, “oh yeah, my Dad bought it for me. I just wore it because my phone is dead.” 😵💫
I had to work at a private dinner for Lamborghini executives and a few select guests at Pebble Beach last weekend. I am happy to say that I saw exactly zero Apple watches. And I’m pretty sure that I saw examples from every major player. The cheapest thing that walked through was a five-digit bluesy. On a side note, what’s the deal with the uber-rich guys aversion to wearing socks?
Yesterday I’m checking in at the security desk at NYT
Building in NYC. The guys at the desk, retired cops I assume, one of whom says “ well you can go up if you surrender that fantastic late 70’s 1675.” “Wow” I said. “0h he s a watch guy said the other.” A Panerai was produced. “Ah a Paneristi “ I said. Rapid watch nerd discussion and fist bump ensures. Would have been longer but I was running for a meeting.

I had a meeting with a bunch of high-powered consultants yesterday and the majority of them had on different Rolex dive variants. No diversity splashed in, pretty funny. I wondered if it was a requirement to get hired at their firm.
