How often do you see ANY nice watch in the wild?

Very nice! I used to have a full Parker 25 and 45 set when I was at school, but I think they have sadly been lost.

These days I have a Pilot vanishing point and a cult pens mini fountain for work. All in the effort to try and improve my handwriting.

Sadly it’s not working.

My current instrument of choice for the desk.

Was at a Rugby Coaches meeting a while back and saw a modern Rolex Sub, PO 600m and Head Coach wearing an AP. People with taste in Sport and Watches, who'd have thought it.

Apple Watch is by far the most common timepiece I spot in the wild, but occasionally I spot a nice mechanical watch. I once spotted Devon Aoki with her husband at Din Tai Fung and he was wearing an AP ROO chronograph. At dinner in down town LA recently I spotted a gold Rolex yacht master.

Coffee with a friend at Marina, Kuwait.
I think this ‘Maserati’ AP counts as a nice watch.

A bit big on my puny wrist.

I see a lot of lawyers sporting Submariners in court, but I’m the only one wearing a 42 year old Speedmaster - and that’s just fine with me. 😀

I am still a college student, so where i go to school, i see very few nice watches, mostly apple watches and fashion watches. I did get one of my fraternity brothers into vintage timepieces, only a few of us are blessed to come from affluent families.

Where I am from in south Florida, i saw nice vintages watches all the time, I its a large retirement area and a lot of the older Gentleman have some very nice timepieces.

^^^ hard pass….
Yep - I agree the dial is a ‘little busy’.
But hey - this is Kuwait and it’s positively understated compared to some offerings you see out here.

At work I don't wear expensive watches, they risk to get scratched or covered in blood...

I live in NYC so whenever I go into the city I usually see some nice watches out in the wild. Mostly Rolex submariners or datejusts. A couple omegas though, SMP and Speedy

I see loads of nice watches in the wild, I work in a casino. People are often dressed up wearing their best and I'm often complimenting people on their nice timepieces...someone took their lange off this week for me to examine, it was superb!

Did not get a good look at the watch, but it was a Rolex the owner had possesed since 1962. He was not happy with the Rolex estimate for a refurbish at GBP2,500 and so he was taking it back as it was. He had been expecting GBP4-500.

In the Rolex AD's shop can I tell him that paying Rolex to replace everything, as they do, will take more than that cost off the value of his watch? And it probably would not look like the watch he had become used to.

Probably MUCH more than the cost of refurbishment off the value of the watch, unless the watch is in truly horrible condition.. Suggest that if he wants a new-looking watch, he could sell the 1962 as-is and buy a recent lightly used watch, or probably even a new one, and have money left over.

When I was in Shibuya and Ginza last November, I was surprised to see Japanese people even in working-class wearing luxury watches. I think it's something more of investment not just to show-off but to look more classy and professional to their potential clients or workmates.

Japanese is a watch-heaven country. I saw so many nice watches when I was there, from Rolex to Omega to Breguet. I think Japan and Singapore are the top 2 countries where so many people have nice watches and they wear them even when using public transport.

Not that often as one should think but sometimes lucky me and so was able to spot a Daytona on a flight to Frankfurt last week. Got opportunity to have some closer looks on it since the man in front of me was lounging and stretching himself all the time like this:

I hear you...I was at a kids birthday party, which is really the last place I expected to see a Daytona and the gentlemen was wearing this. I'm not a fan of the color, but appreciate the watch:

My wife and daughter’s dentist wore one of these to her Elementary School play last year. It looked a lot nicer in real life than I would have assumed by pictures alone.
