Get to see Rolex Subs, Omega Speedys, Hublot Big Bangs,... very very often (almost daily). But mostly just standard / not so admirable pieces... But nice to meet real watch enthusiasts with rarer pieces from time to time....
A bass player wearing some platinum rolex with white dial and Roman numeral indices and scratch marks all over the lugs. Heavy watch. It did match his cufflinks. Funny thing...he takes it off while playing and sets it on top of the SVT. have fun kfw
In the last week. 2 Heuer Monaco's and a Speedmaster. All late models. And last night a Seamaster 300 Co-axial
A mother wearing a white dial Daytona at parents evening. I also have a pupil in my class who has a white faced AP with yellow gold case and bracelet,a black face AP with rose gold case and bracelet his other watch is a hublot.
I was stopped at a stop light spotted the guy next to me wearing a 90’s SMP chronograph. Looked pretty nice. I don’t remember ever running into one of those in the last 7 years of my interest in this hobby.
saw a rolex smurf (blue sub in solid white gold) in my office building earlier this year. I complimented the guy on it - he said he wasn't into watches but his fairly senior father was and gave it to him as a present!
so it's just a blue one like the hulks a green one ?? All this smurf, batman, hulk stuff, who invents this ......
Saw a middle age guy from news agency wearing gold datejust while Im wearing my ym40 had a bit of chat with him and he is a one man watch same as my patient this morning ss datejust.
At Goodwood last week I noticed the chap next to me wearing this, he'd already clocked my Autavia 2446:
The guy that works the register at the local jewish deli/restaurant wears a TT sub and the guy that works at one of the local pizzerias wears a PO. I haven't gotten close enough to him to figure out what ref though. I've only gotten close enough to make socially awkward and uncomfortable glances at his wrist.
Almost never see any nice watches but was on a flight the other day and a young couple had a Rolex Deepsea Sea Dweller (he) and a gold Datejust (she). The airline's October inflight magazine has a feature on watches with the Sea Dweller labelled in the "Exhibitionist" category and that label was not well received by one passenger!
The village pub where I live is a good place to spot some good quality watches. Local business man than buys and sells trucks Planet Ocean 2500 calibre. Property Developer SubC Non Date. Fella from the next village Speedy Pro from the 70’s and the local builder (who only works with stone, not brick) TT DJ. These guys are all regulars. Being in a nice part of the world we do a fair amount of tourists. Other night there was a couple with matching DJ’s and a chap Mont Blanc, no idea which model
One of the dealers talking to a friend of mine the other day leaned over and I noticed she was wearing black underwe ... NO! No .... no ... you'd get sacked by Google for even thinking that. Sacked. With a 6-figure severance payment. No, she leaned over and I noticed she was wearing a very nice (though a little bling for my taste) yellow gold Day-Date. I was about to compliment her on it when her husband came over and I saw he was wearing his matching Day-Date. That's just showing off.
