How often do you see ANY nice watch in the wild?

On a biz class flight on SQ between HKG and SIN, I noticed someone in front of me wearing a Patek Constellation. Was going to strike up a conversation, but didn't want him to think I was stalking him.

But Sponge Bob would have done it.

I see more Apple watches and G-shocks on people than anything else.[/QUOTE]

That's true for me as well, and also modern datejusts, subs and sea dwellers in the business districts.
What surprises me is the lack of omegas, even speedies in the wild.

Just had 3 weeks in Italy. Boy those Italians love their watches. Greater watch:wrist (can I coin this, the w:w ratio?) than anywhere else I have seen in recent times. Rolex, Panerai, a few Omegas, Hublot, lots of cheap action as well. I almost wished I have taken something other than this, but it was the cheap, indistructable and waterproof GMT

I’ve seen a couple 1950s gold Omegas (family heirlooms). And a couple chronographs a colleague was wearing. I was able to see one of them, it was a UG compax, but I didn’t dare ask about the second one.

Planes and airports always seem to be a good place for watch safari!!!

That's interesting, because planes and airports are places I dedicate to my beaters...

I take my steel C-shape Constellation. I would not take gold or gold-capped because of having to take it off and pass it through the scanner, it would be too easy for another person to grab it before I got to it.

Never take your watch off unless asked 😉 Wear mine and never sets the machine off.
I have had to take it off a few times but vary rarely and I travel a fair bit for work. And go through a airport scanner at work 5 or 6 times a day when I work at the airport.

Had a vendor come to my office wearing a 1675 Gmt Master. Had no clue it was valuable. Just his dads watch. He left our meeting with a big smile on his face after I informed him to take special care of it.

Rarely! For the past 6 months I've been paying attention to folks I interact with. Outside of Apple watches and the occasional fashion brand (which is still somewhat common with women), I'm seeing hardly any watches and never anything interesting. However, I'm still on the lookout.

This Rolex GMT earns his money and works. Recently went diving in Hawaii too.

He also likes to chill out sometimes also. But, he does frequently make it out to the wild.

In Seattle, not many other than my own circles. Just got back from Vegas, and saw a bunch of vintage Rolex GMTs.

A guy was staring down my Tudor snowflake on the L the other day. Felt slightly uncomfortable.
