how much of a fail boat is the trilogy series?

Was going to have a crack at resizing the bracelet.

Never done this before, is it quite easy?

Can someone advise on the tools needed and where I can get them.

Help is appreciated 😀

Quite easy to change the links - as long as you have a watchmaker’s screwdriver set, bracelet holder, tweezers, loupe (if your eyes are as bad as mine) and drop of Threadlock (I didn’t bother and the screws are still fine). I’d also advise you to complete the whole process in a light coloured tray - that way if you drop any parts, they’ll be easy to find. Alternatively, if that all sounds like hassle, your OB will do it for you.

Thanks man. Sounds like a lot of stuff to pick up!

Are most OB/ADs ok about resizing if you haven't bought the watch from them?

You will likely have much better luck with an OB than with an AD (unless you are a customer of the AD).

Here's a question...what about the numbered LE Trilogy set that had 'Trilogy xxx' on the dial. They were a run of 557 of each watch. The question is...how do we feel about a dealer listing all three of a numbers matching set individually? Part of me says 'they own them, they can do whatever they wish', but the rest says 'shame on you for potentially splitting them up!'. Am I nuts, or do you guys feel it's a shame to see them listed individually and not as a full set?

Yeah, it feels a bit cheeky asking an AD to do this but would be happy to pay them for the service

Do you mean splitting up the set and selling them individually??

If so then, it's up to them, but I don't see there would be many takers, as some of watches will not have the box/papers/associated swag.

I think it is a shame. I also think it is inevitable that some will go this route. Either because they do not like one of them and want the money to fund another purchase, or because they think selling them individually will net more then selling the full set. If nothing else, I am sure at this point in time that it is easier to move individual pieces; maybe a couple years down the road the value of the set will climb and there will be a premium associated with keep them all together.

Doesn't the trilogy set come in just one large box though? Meaning if the set were broken up, they'd have to be sold without an original box?

2 out of 3 would need to be sold without original box.

From what I've seen, yes they come in one large box, with the outer wooden box having the plaque showing which xxx/557. Would be a shame to see 'the family' broken up!

OB would be your best bet. The chances of a proper watchmaker in the workshop would be higher too - as opposed to an untrained salesperson ‘giving it a go’.

I don’t think that’ll ever happen with an AD or OB at all. All three watches are packed together and are sold that way only I’m sure.

Yes, and the spare straps etc come in one big pouch for all 6 from memory so a bit difficult to sell individually.
