This question is literally how long is a piece of string?, but interested to hear from those who have more fluid collection and are always buying and selling what is the avg length of time you own a watch for and do you have a minimum. Intentionally open ended so feel free to answer however!

It's been like the "Black Hole of Calcutta" here since the early 1980s when the first two vintage watches moved into "The Home For Wayward Watches!"

Watches go in, but they never come out.

They have been put in a drawer when they stoped working, never sold a watch. I gave away a Casio to teen that did not have a watch.

But its a good question, It seems like there is a lot of draft in the collections, falling love with a picture and loving the real thing are different things. And as alway there is that big gaping hole in the soul/heart that needs filling with consumable goods.

I currently intend to never sell my good ones, but who knows what my thought process will be ten, twenty years from now.

There was a time when it seemed like every 6 weeks I was buying a watch. Then would probably keep for a year before selling. At this time, in last 5+ years, I have purchased 3 watches. A seiko, a moonswatch and Blancpain swatch.

The ones in pic were purchased 7-12 years ago. I still own them.

1week to 30 years, many online buys returned within a week but the longest tenure was bought new on 47th St for cash
