Some I've owned since the 90s, some I have bought within the past year. Watches that wind up not working get culled every few years. I'm currently wearing an old Depression era Elgin that I haven't worn in a year to see if I am going to keep it or send it on to its next custodian.

I'm somewhat OCD in how I pick a watch that by the time I pull the trigger, given the mental process I put myself through, the watch is unlikely to ever leave. I do know people who like to experience a lot of different watches and seem to buy and sell frequently (at least more frequent than me) and their methodology for choosing what to purchase doesn't seem as laborious as mine. I'll assume the faster someone can decide to acquire, the faster they might be able to part with it?

This question is literally how long is a piece of string?, but interested to hear from those who have more fluid collection and are always buying and selling what is the avg length of time you own a watch for and do you have a minimum. Intentionally open ended so feel free to answer however!
For the 24 watches I've previously owned starting in ~2004, the average has been 31.1 months (don't ask 😂). The minimum was 2 months, which was basically just how long it took me to sell it after deciding almost instantly (and similarly I have had a few other watches for only ~3-4 months).

I've had my Omega Filghtmaster for @ 48 years, and it's not departing anytime soon!
At least until I get my 200 comments. So probably another few years.
