How do I know if this is original and a decent buy?

As noted, you can either believe the seller, do your own research, or develop a personal network that you can contact for advice. Many collectors look at the listings on OF, and if something jumps out as being incorrect in the listing, they will usually ask the seller to correct it. That said, there are no guarantees and each buyer needs to be responsible for their own purchases. Sold items on eBay are a good way to research market price, but you need to compare watches that are in comparable condition, which takes some experience.

How do I know if this is as original as advertised and is this a good buy?

I did not find the word "original" in that listing. I am not saying that any parts are not original, but the seller does not claim that to be the case. "Authentic" and "original" do not have the same meaning in the context of vintage watches. It's important to learn to review photos and listing text very carefully and pay attention to details.

Thank you Dan, I went back and reread the posting and the term “authentic” was used, no where did it mention original. I appreciate the education.

Thank you
Ron

The case reference number 135.011 as shown on the inside caseback. Try googling "Omega 135.011" and compare. The sales forum here is moderated, so there are certainly no outright fakes. The moderators will also catch egregious omissions and redails. The watch does show some wear, it is very presentable condition. I would wear it myself. Try looking for sold examples here or on ebay for an idea of price. I don't have my finger on the market, but I am pretty sure the asking price is not unreasonable. If it were me, I might try to negotiate, but that is up to you.

I would have some questions for the seller. Specifically what is meant by "Movement is clean and oiled, it has been recently adjusted by watchmaker" Has it recently received a full service with a guarantee? Also, because the seller has limited experience selling here, I would want a way to build trust. Does the seller have reference elsewhere?

Feeling a little uncomfortable with this: a fairly new OP is potentially asking OF whether he needed to call out one of his fellow members. As I think @JimInOz was hinting, there are politer ways than this to build confidence. If a FS ad is not quite right, the etiquette is a discreet PM, surely.

An inexpensive watch well displayed that we all pretty much it's what it appears to be. Nothing wrong with asking but you do need to realize that questioning an accepted member might not be accepted well.
