Hi there! First post and so happy I discovered this forum. I purchased this Omega Geneve and some opinions that I have gotten from research and a friend looking at it are that it is a redial - can anyone confirm or offer any thoughts on its authenticity? Thanks!
Hi, nice watch! I'm not familiar with this reference but it doesn't look like a redial to me. Case looks good also, movement is clean so no reason to worry IMO Enjoy! EDIT: Here another one for comparison: https://omegaforums.net/threads/ome...hnic-with-black-dial-and-red-crosshair.67429/
Looks legit - here is another: https://omegaforums.net/threads/rec...er-geneve-cal-552-165-002.79727/#post-1020465
Very beautiful watch ! Congrats. It’s very difficult at times to understand if they are redials or not, but the movement looks good and in line with the dial ! Question... from the two pictures posted here it seems like these dials have a tendency to have the lime flake off. Is this common for these watches?
If this is a redial, I need to know who's the guy who did the relume, because IMO he must be the best one around to be able to fake crumbly vintage tritium.
This is just my opinion, but I really do not like the missing lume on the dial and the blackening of the lume on the hands. Also remember that all those bits of lume that have become displaced really only have one place to go and that's into the mechanism. If it was mine, I'd want some consistency with the dial and hands and either have the rest of the lume removed or get it sympathetically relumed. Then again, that's just my opinion and if you are happy with the way it looks, then enjoy it. Still think it should be serviced and the remaining lume at least stabilised if practical (and not too expensive).
At the example I posted for comparison you have the same thing at 12 and 6, I don't think this is a proof for a redial
