How come Bucherer is generally un-loved?

People on this page in the last day or so talking about $200 buys too. What I'm seeing on eBay is listed in the $4k range.

Ah ok, my mistake.... Bucherer and Carl F. Bucherer are two different lines of watches and were not produced at the same time. CFB is a higher quality luxury watch... Both very nice though.

I've owned a couple of vintage Bucherer watches and completely agree that they are an undervalued gem in the market! While Bucherer (with the Carl F. Bucherer brand) have now stepped up their game, some of their 1950s/60s watches can be found for a great price on eBay. I think they went a bit downhill in the 80s, but if you can find something from before they're a definite buy...

Bucherer is the best vintage value out there....just picked up this 50yr old Bucherer Chronometer today. $145. I'd say it was a good deal.....

Probably because nobody knows how to pronounce it. I've been pronouncing it wrong this whole time and even correcting people saying it right. So yeah, I'm done with the brand.

In that case, I guess you'll never own a Jaeger LeCoultre either... 😗

Sounds easier than just learning to say the name correctly. 😉

This thread inspired me to look up a Bucherer Chronometer. I found this auction and won it being out a total of about 58USD. I'll update with more info and pics when it arrives. Not mint to be sure, but worth a $58 punt I think. Sellers pics

Here's my contribution: an already rare Felca Seascoper with a double signed Bucherer dial

Got the lot in the mail today. PO must have worn a metal bracelet on the forearm side of the watch judging by the wear to the back/side of the case.

After removing the bezel and crystal I reset the sweep second hand and it started happily trotting around the dial. 😀

Having gone that far, I removed the crown and movement, and cleaned up the dial and case before putting it back together.

Came out pretty nice for a $58 Chronometer I think.

Watch enthusiasts enthusiastically bid up prices on any and every chronometer (not named Bucherer).

Over my many years of "collecting" I've bought Mint+ Bucherer Chronometers of all sorts; many are true NOS which keep time to a second or two and nobody cares. I never start out looking for Bucherer but once in a while I can't resist the siren song.

Vintage Bucherer is a lazy, completely unmotivated market. Good thing you buy these watches for the price of a carton of cigarettes or I'd be bust-o.

I wear many of these and enjoy them and that really should be all that matters. But, I'm a human bean and sometimes get frustrated at...reality.

Did I miss the memo on Bucherer? Was the company part of an international conspiracy for kiddie porn or human organ trafficking or something?

The Bucherer divers watch I received as a gift in 1971. Has an ETA 2472 25 jewel movement. Had the dial refinished in 2008 by Stoll(authorized Bucherer repair center). They were great! Watch has been a pleasure to own. An of all the fine watches I own, this is the only one that gets noticed frequently when i wear it in public.
The other is a BSwiss Prestige Moonphase. SW200 with Dubois Depraz. Also a pleasure to own and way underpriced. Looks like many of the same parts as the Carl F Bucherer upper end watches. I recommend this brand!

I was told you might want a look at this 32mm I inherited. I know almost nothing about it and neither did CFB. Lol. Tried to have it serviced but the crown retention screw won't budge. Still runs well even if it's hard to find the tiny thing.

It’s from around the 1960s-70s judging by the logo style. I do t doubt CFB didn’t know much about it, Bucherer produced tons of models in many price ranges over the years. You are probably looking at restoration options only for servicing. If the case back is steel then it is gold plated, otherwise full gold. Should be stamped somewhere too. Cool piece!

Yes, one of the lugs has some pitting underneath and it has a bunch of writing on the screw-down stainless steel case back. The strap was pretty beat up so I grabbed a Java Lizard strap from Esslinger with a matching buckle. (Much better than the supremely fake "rolex day-date" that was in the same jewelry box for sure!)

I've never stopped looking for Bucherers, but its not easy to find one that stands out.

Until today. Here's a real deal, and may be one of the finest I've found. Sparkling good condition. 220 bucks.

Don't know the age but the movement is a Felsa 692 Chronometer so probably late 50s?

I always say it's not a deal until it's in your hands. Seller claimed it had been recently serviced. With great relief, what I bought actually showed up. Steady and stable within 6 secs(-2 to +4) in 6 positions. Example pic below of Timegrapher results. I'm a happy pappy.
