How come Bucherer is generally un-loved?

I'm catching a ton of flak from wifey so I know I'm right over the target. I had a package show up (3) days in a row with a nice little Bucherer surprise each day. Like Christmas in November!!

    Nice grabs Rich .

My pick is the cushion case (the one sans strap).

    Oh, yeah? Me too!
When are you guys coming to NYC ?
We built a small but cozy in-law suite in the townhouse for mom (come and go as-you-please) but she's lollygagging about moving in so it's all yours for the price of (1) dinner @ our favorite local Italian. No other strings attached...get moving!! lol

First of all Happy New year to you and sorry for stealing this superb topic.

I found on local forum a stainless steel Bucherer with no movement photos.

The asking price is decent (roughly 200 US$).

    What do you think?

    Thank you for insightful advice!
    But I missed it.
Seller didn't reply when asked by sms. Later on the phone he simply said 'it's sold for 4.8 million vietnam dong'

this is a fantastic thread on a very interesting and historic watch brand. like the O.P. i'm also in the tri-state area but ashamed to admit even as a prolific watch treasure hunter I don't currently have a bucherer in our stash. that is about to change as next weekend is yet another of my Chelsea weekend market raids so anyone reading this from the area, including the O.P., best stay outa my way or someone's gonna get hurt.

Very interesting! Never heard of them before, but I'll be looking out for them from now on. Thanks for the thread!

Any other sleeper brands you'd like to share information on!!!

Great topic! Here's mine - nowhere near as nice as some of the examples in this thread but I love the grey dial and the applied logo and indices.

It's a front loader so I have no idea what movement is in it, though I suspect it's a 2824. The watch just feels like quality. Very solid, heavy (for the size) stainless case, runs like a top, hacking, quick set date, the whole shebang. I picked it up in a lot with several other vintage pieces (the other standout was an ultra cool 1969 Delma Periscope) for $200.

Same could be said for Wempe, who also produced some really excellent stuff over the years.

I've long held the belief that retailers routinely produce some of the highest quality stuff, but getting over the brand hurdle itself is usually an insurmountable task. Hell, Carl F. Bucherer makes some of the highest quality modern watches I've ever handled, but most folks just can't get past the name on the dial (or the sizes of some of the cases, but that's besides the point).

My Bucherer version of the Omega Seamaster ref. 145.023. Not as nice as some but I love it.

A quick eBay scan doesn't show any of the reasonable pricing from the early part of this thread.

People on this page in the last day or so talking about $200 buys too. What I'm seeing on eBay is listed in the $4k range.
