How come Bucherer is generally un-loved?

The first Rolex were produced with Bucherer. They taught Rolex a great deal about watchmaking. Great watches.

That's Valjoux 72 powered isn't it? Very nice! And I imagine worth a bit more than your standard Bucherer!

A local watch seller has a nice Bucherer chronometer for sale and as much as I love the look of the watch, he's asking $265 CAD which is a bit much for what's there.

Sadly it's a local antique mall and customers aren't permitted to take pictures.

Just ask for the service history and then bring a $80 or so service price onto the negotiations.
Anything around USD 150 to 200 is OK

I didn't realize the Bucherer chronometers were worth so much. I might have to take another look at it.

The only difference between this bucherer and a v72 Rolex is a bunch of zeros. A whole bunch.

Frankly, the bucherer is more aesthetically pleasing...

BTW - anyone here plan on bidding on Paul Newman's Paul Newman? 10 million + lol

Latest filly in the stable...

This was a nice find - complete set, 100% original, never polished (unfortunately never serviced but most times I prefer 'em this way).

Nice to see you again Rich. I see you're still finding some nice little pearls among the swine.

Hope all is going good for you now.

Cheers Mate.

One day at a time brother, one day.

Yeah, I realized that I enjoy finding certain watches more than I even like wearing 'em. Thankfully, Bucherer is a pretty inexpensive and harmless addiction.

Hope things are well in your literal other end of the world. Looks like the $AUD$ is starting to wake up - just in time for you crazy aussies to start driving up vintage prices (again!!)

Kind thoughts

Hmmm...I just had my first ever auction fight over a Plain Jane day-date.

A welcome and refreshing twist (I lost!)

Sorry you lost.
Now we just need to get Hodinkee interested and the Bucherers are taking off
