How come Bucherer is generally un-loved?

Is the Bucherer brand the same as the modern Carl F Bucherer? I like the peripheral rotor they do.

This one is from Japan - it's a freaking Vacheron and was ~200 bucks. 馃榾 If it said Vacheron on the dial it would be 4 grand, easy. A lot of vintage watch for 200. Only real negative: 34mm. I'll post movement photos after I get the watch.

Something to look out for, for those who care: many mid 50's Bucherer's are made by Rolex and some w/ Singer dials (just like Tiffany). I find this...interesting?

The founder of Bucherer struck up a relationship with a guy named Wilsdorf in the early days. I think they are still the biggest Rolex AD so it doesn't surprise me that the house watches came from Rolex, VC etc.

I think they saw more money in cheaper watches to a bigger market in the later years though.

Yes, Carl F Bucherer is their in house watch brand, named after the founder of the company.

I hadn't realized she's priced in AUD so $1438 isn't too far out of line compared to a lot of the shite I'm seeing out there lately.

The melt value of the gold is probably 7/800 bucks.

Also, it's kinda ugly. 馃憤

My only Bucherer. This one in a case which uses 4 stainless steel screws, one behind each lug, to hold the movement "canister" in place. Landeron 48 movement. The only watch I have ever seen that uses a crown with a "male" post within, rather than the typical arrangement. Two-piece stem. Decent, but I never wear it. Sorry for the drappy file photo, but it's locked away.

I'll tell you what: if Hodinkee wrote a couple variations of exactly what you just wrote and presented facts as you did, I have a feeling the demand curve for quality vintage Bucherer would steepen right quick.

And who wants that?? Thank goodness for the fact there are still some good watches to be had for a reasonable price!!
Is there a conspiracy to ensure no watch will remain affordable?

I read somewhere that there is a Bucherer model with the legendary Peseux 260 inside, but because Bucherer listings almost never have a movement shot, never found one

I'm skeptical.

Bucherer are arguably undervalued in the market, but don't confuse the typical quality of their vintage watches with that of G眉belin. 馃槈

Those are definitively my cup of tea. Great ratio quality/price. I will start scanning the bay. Any tip with a PM is very welcome.
