Your persona shadowed your deeds of crime,
your life now defined by the latter.

Oh, Chris Essery
the trust built up over time
now left in tatters

BRAVO.

I have spent 10 minutes trying to compose a suitable haiku, you beat me to it.

Simplest words are often enough.

Nothing more damning than the good old English phrase:

"Poor form, old chap."

<must be said aloud in the tenor and tone of the man below>

I too was trying to write a Haiku on the theme- but just couldn’t stir the creative juices- I love this place!

Hi @Ssunnylee24

The more I think about it.... Best thing to do is create a website and document it and make sure it stay LIVE and current !

Anytime anyone googles his name it will come up with his old videos that people already saved... the whatsup txts logs... etc...

and as others postulated... if it is more the a single person... keep digging... posting... etc..

But no good will come from piling up and name calling... waste of energy and time.... make the website instead and reach out to any and all authorities... but the more information that can be gathered and the more cases that can be documented will make the difference...

Good Hunting
Bill Sohne
Hi Bill. Why not just use the existing websites and forums like OF having much wider reach and popularity ? Its not waste of energy and time, the guy is shitting his pants right now and returning the money. Will probably scam again may be not in watches. Deserves jail. Plus this online naming and shaming will create more awareness.

Because peoples threats/name-callings/opinions/piling on do not legally matter when it comes down to facts, and it would be easier for any people taking part in any proceedings, as well as for any new people to be alerted, if there was 0 cruft, and just a clean list of facts. I suspect thats why there is the 'horologyhouseisascammer' IG profile created. I for one could not be bothered to read the 243569869456 pages of derogatory opinions in search of facts in TRF thread, for example. Just my 2c take on what Bill meant...I apologise Bill if I put words in your mouth.

Chris may had some gambling issues apparently which would explain irrational and inexplicable behaviors

Explaining it doesn't really matter. He screwed people out of their hard-earned money. Putting other people in financial binds to save yourself is never okay.

Oh, he had a gambling problem? I'm sure he's a good guy and all those victims are piling on needlessly. He's probably got great character and this was just a forgivable one-off lapse of judgement.

Pah-leeze.

My father stole bread for his mother when he was in a concentration camp during the second world war.

Everything in life is about context. If you dont know the context, you dont really know what you're talking about. That's what my father said to me.

I was listening to Scottish watches podcast last night, they were interviewing the person who actually purchased the watch. After listening his story, from the first hands - everything kind of clears off for me.

It could be longer since TRF closed their thread! 😁

I haven't looked, have any other threads been started there? I found the decision by TRF management to close the original thread strange.Yes some of the commenters were veering into shitposting but it is also an unfolding story that is partially about censorship of online watch communities. I think its a bad look for TRF.

I read the whole thread. It was veering way off into a discussion of gambling addiction and the apologists seemed to be taking over; with of course those who would have nothing to do with them. I'm no fan of censorship but the thread did seem to be pointless when they closed it.

I don't post over there. I only created an account to be able to make a purchase (one far less than 20k).

I never spent any time on TRF as it always seemed a bit weird. But as the thread went on various people continued to make excuses for what he did; 'he made a few mistakes', 'he maybe didn't know the watch was fake', 'people got their money back so, no harm, no foul', 'he's a nice guy with good Youtube videos', 'must be some sort of vendetta against him and he's being railroaded', etc. So I made the comment that I was surprised that people were still defending him when the evidence coming out was pretty damning, he was scamming people. For that comment I was immediately, permanently banned from TRF. There's obviously more going on than what is being reported and feelings are touchy. Very odd bunch of people, imo.
