Does buying full PM for Rolex sports models mitigate the risk?

The idea is it would be significantly costly to fake a PM and the demand is not as big as for SS.

what is a PM?

If seller willing to give a prostate massage, i suppose that shores up the credibility? 😀

Rolex AD’s used to offer this service along with flattery and flat champagne when they actually wanted your business...oh the good ole days.

what is a PM?

Precious Metal: Platinum (Pt), Yellow Gold (YG), White Gold (WG) and Rose Gold/Everose (RG).

Premised on two things:

1. Price of Stainless Steel (SS) sports models nearing PM prices anyway

2. To fake a PM would be readily apparent when the watch is handled in the flesh. And for a faker to use actual PM in the fake watches would be unlikely.

Chrono24 escrow provides no security! The money is held in escrow until you agree for it to be released to the seller. Chrono24 will not return the money to the buyer unless the seller agrees. If the seller does not ship the watch, and the seller does not tell Chrono24 to refund the money to you, the money will stay in escrow FOREVER. A bad seller can hold your money hostage and Chrono24 will not get involved. If you use bank transfer with Chrono24, your money may be in limbo forever. You have been warned!

You’re right of course, but to be fair to Chrono24 this is how escrows work (in general). So your warning RE Chrono24 escrow is effectively an education about the limits of any simple escrow in offering protection in the case there is a bad actor (better than the bad actor reaping a windfall, but not that the good actor is made whole easily)
