Where are you based? In UK it seems it is a bit slow, it might take months before I get mine maybe 2022.
I’m in the US

Well thanks I’m not a doctor or anything but I’m in the health field and my job makes me “front line healthcare worker” I’ll be honest with you I wish I had a few more people going before me. Three weeks ago we got notified by the cdc and state we would be getting them and asked to submit our info if we wanted one. The way the notice was written I honestly thought it would be months away. Obviously not the case. I’m not complaining though I know a lot of people want to get the shot I just think they should have done nursing home and elderly first but right now my place is getting ravaged by covid right now so it’s probably good to get it done and over with.

Hope that turns aground for you.

My wife (a Dr.) got her vaccine last week, and has stepped up the breastfeeding of our 1 yr old in order to pass on the antibodies.

Meanwhile, my 2yr old and I are eyeing the tap...

The roll out in Los Angeles is apparently well behind schedule, and with the rapidly increasing numbers and lack of hospital beds and services and seems as if the government is trying to push the vaccine out as quickly as possible. As a result, I was able to get the first of the two Moderna doses today, even though I am not high on the priority matrix. I asked to make sure that it was OK if I was getting the vaccine and they told me yes because only 10% of the tier one target patients have taken it so far. I had no side effects at all and while I recognize I am not safe at this point, I do feel a lot less anxiety about the whole thing. We have been extremely locked down for personal and family reasons, and will continue to do so, but with much less stress.

Here- in Israel- 14% of the population has already received their first injection. Including myself. Second dose scheduled for Jan. 14.

It will take some time to see how this affects the epidemic here. Hopefully we will see a drop in hospitalizations and deaths in a month or so.
Right now things are Not Good.

That I must say cvalue13 is ingenious, I would never have thought about it, but makes complete logical sense to step up the breastfeeding in an attempt to pass on as much protection as is possible to your child. Great thinking.

They, uh, got distracted for a few hours...

A good story.

The drug sildenafil (trade name Viagra etc) did not do particularly well in the cardiac assessments, but people were not returning the drug trial packs. A few questions later and history was made.

Well I’m leaving in about 10 minutes to get my first vax shots. I gotta say while I was leaving work I asked one of the nurses if she got hers yet, I’m just trying to ask a few people about side effects, she looked at me and said “your crazy I wouldn’t take that shit.” Doesn't exactly fill me with confidence but I’m committed I’m getting it.

Ya thanks glad your mother got it. I had to sign all the paperwork for my mother to get it. I’m sure I will be fine I’m just getting myself worked up at this point, I probably asked one of the very few nurses who would answer like that.

Health care people are not immune to ignorance or stupidity, those traits run through all groups of people. The number of lawyers who die with no will or trust is staggering.

I'm glad it went all right! Out of curiosity, do you know when non-healthcare people will get it (since it looks like you are a doctor)? My friend that works at UCSF said people in our demographic - I'm 22 - can expect it in the spring, but it looks like we are (unsurprisingly) way behind in our administration of the vaccine.

No I am not a doctor. I just work the mental health side of things which brings me to hospitals etc quite often. I have no inside info but it sounds like they will be starting nursing homes around me in the next two weeks. That sounds positive. I hope everyone who wishes to get one is able to do so ASAP

Free state of Florida is doing general public vaccinations already. Full up for sure but at least they are doing it. My parents live in Massachusetts, they are prioritizing young rapists and murderers over them(because prisoners predominantly vote with the ruling party there), no general public vaccinations at all. God I hate politics. My parents have been living in their own prison due to the draconian measures. My sister(who also lives there) would get fined $1000 if she visited them, even with protections. She has to stand outside their house and wave. George Orwell is rolling over in his grave.

Hey wryfox my mom is in MA as well I’m pretty sure she is expected (not guaranteed) to get the vax sometime in the next two weeks. She is in a home though. As I stated I think the shots should have started with the elderly since that’s where the highest rate of deaths are. I certainly would have gladly waited.

The prisoners are in closer contact with each other and the guards that work there are more at risk.
But your political slant will sound better in your head.

Prisoners 95% in low risk category. Elderly 95% in high risk. But your argument will sound better in your head.

BTW, if you think politics are not part of this, I feel sorry for you.

Ummm low risk you say

The modern prison is a perfect breeding ground for COVID-19. For example, more than 20,000 prisoners and 6,400 prison staff have tested positive in the United States (Human Rights Watch 2020), with reports highlighting very high rates of infection of between 74 and 98 per cent of prisoners in correctional facilities in Ohio, California, and Louisiana (Lartey 2020) and a seven-fold infection rate observed in New York City jails (Barnert 2020). Reasons cited for high risk and prevalence within prisons include overcrowding, poor ventilation, close habitation, and social-distancing challenges, all of which can contribute to virus transmission (Montoya-Barthelemy et al. 2020). In both Italy and Colombia, the pandemic has been also a cause of large-scale prison rioting and escape attempts (Anthony 2020).
