What happens next? One of our Chesapeake Bay Retrievers and a litter of Chi puppies watching the same toy
Okay. Well, first there was the standoff between the new kid and the old town sheriffs early in the morning when everyone woke up. Then there was the all day play time for the new kid All this while, some were not amused Finally, nap time right at my foot Overall, a good first day. I have also realised how friendly the newbie is and how nasty cats can get just by being so cold and nonchalant. No fights and everyone stayed at a distance. Not the warm, loving and affectionate trio playing with each other as I had pictured in my head and hoped for. Who knows. Maybe in the future. For now I have to go and make amends with my cats who clearly have been giving me the stink eye since newbie arrived.
Bitter sweet, already three months ago tomorrow we had to say goodbye. They stay alive in our memories, time will never take that away from any of us. Election day 20016, he knew what was coming.
how are things going? We too did our research about how to bring in a new kitten but sadly did not go so well. This was our Queen of the House and the imports..... after we brought them home there was disgust and then eventual tolerance, but still the every morning "what were you thinking" the little ones have now grown up to be a nice pair but the Queen gradually wasted away, my daughters think a broken heart.
Aww! Pictures are too cute! And that is definitely the "what were you thinking" look. After getting the pup I have definitely realised how much easier it is to keep cats. They look cute, do their own business in kitty litter and aren't behind you 24/7 wanting attention. Very self-sufficient. Not so much with dogs. I was freezing my butt off at 5am today in ankle deep snow because my puppy wanted to go outside for potty (mission failed, she didn't go). Things are adjusting normally for us. Both cats have come to terms with the puppy's existence but I still get the stink eye from time to time. They didn't come to my bedroom at night time for 2-3 days as a show of anger and disgust - but since then have slowly forgiven me (or so I like to think). No mingling whatsoever with the puppy though. They keep a distance and start growling if puppy comes too close. No fights yet. I feel bad for the puppy. She is just 9 weeks and wants to lick everything in sight and play. Gets nasty attitude from the catties all the time. I am glad she is serving the purpose we got her for: being a great companion for my four and a half year old. Those two can go on forever. Energizer bunnies I swear.
I would love to have a dog, and so would my wife, but the thought of another "child" at home however furry or cute is just too much now that we have the youngest safely off to university. Holding on for a few years until I can spend more time at home (retire!!!). will have to figure out how much it will upset the incumbents.......
