Stan has his Aunties over this weekend. Lots of talk about these girls since a litter was shown on a dog show last week.

She's home with us now...

I miss her terribly...🙁
You never get over them but having them home in some fashion is a comfort somehow.

One of those lazy rainy Saturday mornings when you find it hard to get out of bed, until someone utters the word "walk".

On weekends we usually take Lara and Hugo for long walks outside the city. There's a scenic route they really enjoy and Hugo (the black one) has a favorite spot aka. a small puddle where he likes to cool off every time. Well, this morning we had a nice surprise, the puddle was full of mud. They were not bothered at all ::facepalm1::

The wee boy enjoying some time off lead, and his recall is surprisingly good (for a Beagle) 😀

Fast asleep.

nota bene:
evidence that all dogs do not have a keen sense of smell.

My wife and I stopped using the "W" word. They are so smart and adaptive they figured out what "go" means. Even when we whisper they know something is up.

Fergus and Charlie know what shoes and clothes signal a walk. Once they are clued in they simply go bananas.

We find Opus on his back on the couch all the time. Fortunately, today he was in a fairly compact position, which left us some room.

Not the best photo of her, but Zelda and I went for a nice hike in the mountains and this is an interesting spot. It's the Needle's Eye tunnel, a turn-of-the-century railroad tunnel at about 11,600' near Rollins Pass on the Continental Divide in Colorado, which had a long prior history as a stagecoach route (including a privately owned toll route). The long, dangerous, switchback-laden railroad line became obsolete and the rails were removed after the 6-mile long Moffat Tunnel was drilled through the mountains in 1928 nearly 3000 feet below, but the route remained open as a jeep road until about 20 years ago, when the tunnel caved in. Now you can drive up nearly to the tunnel from both sides (although there is a very precarious wooden railroad trestle on the West side), but you can't drive from Boulder to Winter Park this way any more.

Meet Barney - my previous loyal companion. Lost him last year after a long and healthy life. What a champ he was. An Irish, soft-coated Wheaten Terrier. Fantastic companion.

Barney was superseded by Bomber, a Springer - now 2 years old. Comes to work with me every day.

And finally, my family have an Airedale Terrier. Meet Jumble!

We lost our child on Monday, such a funny, sweet and loving dog.

Thank you fellow pet owners for letting me share, especially the ones who have recently lost their own loved ones.

Sorry, I can't say anymore right now other than our hearts are shattered into a million pieces, we are beyond devastated.

I'll add more when I can.
