Good mates now, the fawn is a rescue for the blue who recently lost her soul mate due to cancer...
Love justly earned.
Rescue is really worthwhile

Truely sorry to read your loss, it took us a long while when we had our Paddy put to sleep at home, like you...
Cancer too, hard to admit but we knew and he knew too, soul mate Lulu grieved for weeks.
Went to sight hound rescue after two months and have rehomed a lovely boy whippet/lurcher who looked so sad then..now he has filled the loss and gives us a great deal of happiness.
Will never buy another “pedigree” as so many are out there just wanting a chance to love you in return for kindness.

I'm sorry for your loss, which I feel sure everyone on this thread will understand only too well. It's tough to lose a beloved animal, whichever way they go. They are people, there really is no difference.

Cinder was trying to take over the dog bed, but Addie was having none of it!

Took Addie to the dog park today...

So our girl is gone...
...The toughest part of all this is knowing that what you are doing is the right thing, but also knowing that they really don't understand that...

I'm so sorry for your loss. There are no words, only actions - your friends and family, and Remi will be what get you through this, by being at your side. Offering our condolences is woefully inadequate, but hopefully helpful along the way.

So our girl is gone.

She sounds like such a sweet girl and it's obvious that she was greatly loved. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Dogs are awesome, but they can yank your heart out when it's time to say goodbye. Cheers to all.

I spent a stormy weekend searching for a memorial photo of Banzai, who crossed the bridge in March. Its amazing that it took so much searching last few months through 16 years of photo's to find this. It was an early spring day 2012 on the beach, He had been running and chasing waves. Here he's on a jetty hunting critters. It captures his energy and personality better than a portrait shot. This will go on the cherry wood memorial urn I bought and sit on the piano next to his sister Snickers who passed tragically in 2008. Miss them both. Its a quiet house without a dog.

Absolutely gutted. RIP Chunky.
He was a brilliant dog and the best companion and friend my family and myself could have asked for over the past 11 years. Always happy to see us wagging his little tail. The house seems empty now without his constant noise whether it be him snoring, grunting or knocking things over whilst playing football.

He was always a youthful old boy but we had seen a downturn in him since the start of the year and then this hot weather of late seemed to knock the stuffing out of him. He had a fit on Monday when he lost the use of his back legs for about 30 minutes so we took him to the vets. From the symptoms they thought it was a mass of some kind on his spine but the only way to be certain was an x-ray which meant a general anaesthetic which we weren’t willing to put him through. A course of steroids and water tablets to reduce the swelling in his stomach which had ballooned up were dispensed. There was a vast improvement in him so when we went back to the vets 2 days later he had lost 1.6kg of water from his stomach. A higher dose of steroids were prescribed. I’d been sleeping on the sofa downstairs next to his bed since the Monday and on the Wednesday night he had another fit for 30 minutes so I rang the emergency vets to make an appointment to put him to sleep, the worst phone call I have ever had to make. We were due to take him on the Thursday at 9:20am.
My wife then slept on the other sofa next to Chunky and at about 5:00am he got up and slowly walked to the patio doors to be let out. Chunky then walked over to his favourite spot in the garden which was underneath an Ash tree where he always slept in the summer when he got too hot. He stayed there about 1.5 hours then walked back into the house where he had a drink of water. I then gave him a bone to eat which he did and then walked over to his bed, wagged his tail one last time and laid down and fell asleep where he then passed away in his sleep peacefully at 7:00am.

I am just thankful that he went peacefully in his sleep and we didn’t have to make the trip to the vets.

We gave him the best life any dog could have asked. Plenty of walks, holidays with the family, meals out to pubs and restaurants and most importantly a lot of love from all of us.

This is the last picture I took of him 11 hours before he passed away.

PS, keep the pictures coming

Ian, Sarah, Autumn and Meadow

Very sad for you loss, Ian.

Affectionately known as the ' Nanny McFee' face.

That fang-face happens pretty frequently in our house. More rarely, we get the full-fledged grimace-face.

My in-laws always have had a nice boxer, I love them, but don’t have the room in our house so I stay with Boston’s. Boxers have so much energy. They look very muscular and aggressive, but they are also on of the sweetest breeds I’ve known, very playful.

And I have a soft spot for Boston Terriers because they remind me of mini-Boxers. ;-)

I've had three Boxers, and it's true that they remain very playful their whole lives.
