My little Mister tragically passed away yesterday. He was only eight and had spent Friday evening racing around the house and playing - his normal mischievous self. I found him in the morning seemingly still asleep 馃檨. Gutted.
Panda, his black and white partner in crime, is bereft.

So sad but many happy memories I am sure.

We were only talking last evening as to how our little one will be if the old boy goes first as he is so attached to him 馃

So sorry. I lost a dog suddenly and was wrecked ... that鈥檚 young for a cat ... any clues as the why? I say that because you might have a situation that could put your other cat in jeopardy.

That's so sad. It's always tough, whether unexpected or with signs of a slow ending.

After outliving two dogs, my wife decided to not get another after Snickers passed away August 2016, and we'll just enjoy dog sitting for each of our 2 daughter's dogs. We're grandparents if dogs are part of the family.

We've been through our for share of cats too, and we're caring for our son's cat until he finished college in 2 years. I will miss him whether he passes or simply moves away. I love having a pet, but my wife is reluctant to invest her heart in another one.

I am truly sorry for your loss. Our beautiful boy William was killed by a car nearly eight years ago and we still miss him sometimes. After two weeks we could no longer stand the silent house and got another two from a cat rescue. We still have them, and another three that somehow got here. I know you are not ready yet, but Panda will be lonely and somewhere there is another cat that needs the home you can give. I wish you strength through the bad times.

Thank you for all of the kind and understanding comments. They're a great help.
Larry S, having spoken to a few people, we think heart disease is to blame, the first symptom of which is often sudden death. As a precaution we're taking Panda to the vet's for a check up.
Larryganz, I completely understand your wife's decision not to have another pet; when my first dog passed away I didn't think I could cope with losing another - at the time the loss was much too painful. Eventually I've come to see things differently - though losing a pet is horrendous, the joy they bring makes up for that.
Edward53, your description of the silent house really resonates. We'll likely get a rescue cat later in the year as company for Panda (Panda was rescued from horrible, abusive former owners). Until then we'll give him all the attention we can - he's currently asleep on my knee, which certainly beats his old habit of perching awkwardly on my arm and shoulder!

Nice to finally see some sun this year

Love that second shot, I can see him just thinking 'can a boy not have a lie down in peace' 馃榾

Embarrassed to post this shot but such is life, as mentioned previously my garden is starting to look more like a race track but I haven't the heart to stop them racing around.

Rest time 馃榾

So we have 2 Whippets. Remi, the younger male, is good in that if I'm eating something, he will come and stand almost out of sight, and patiently wait. I'll eventually giver him a piece of carrot and he's happy and wanders off afterwards.

Raven, the older female, has a slightly different approach...

"Hey there....I see you are eating lunch. Can I have some?"

"Hi me again...I'm really hungry, and those veggies look tasty. I'm going to circle around you until you give me something, and then I'll still stick around and stare at you just in case you decide to give me some more..."

Three beds of his own, plus a couch he's allowed on and he still wants to be here...

I know that feeling Norm. At least your head was not on the pillow when he decided to lie down.

In the past I have posted pics of our Queen Bengal, India, who lived to be 17, the last 13 yrs with us. She passed a bit over 27 months ago and on Monday my wife, daughter and I put the grieving aside and adopted not 1, but 2 more. A mother and daughter Bengal. 5 and 4 yrs old. In the last few days they have traveled from No. Carolina, to Virginia, to Penn., to Mass. and then finally home with us to Maine. Needless to say, they are a bit traumatized. Say hello to Safari and Savannah.
