Seven month-old Maui earned his Hiker credential yesterday, with his first 5km (3 mi) hike that also included a 300m (1,000ft) ascent on a steep and rocky trail. Such a Good Boy!

Remembering back to the day Maui joined his forever family (with bonus Speedmaster content).

On the three-hour drive back home he cried for an hour, then barfed. But from that point forward he's proven to be a very even-tempered, teachable, affectionate, and easy-to-love little fellow.

Sadly we had our boy PTS last night.
His health had detiorated and after another seizure yesterday he paced non-stop and wouldn't eat.

On Friday when I took him to the vets for a review and a repeat prescription I was told he was fine all things considered.

But I knew after being in the car and visiting the vets which he's never liked, he'd be quite lively.

He was pacing from 6-30am to 5-00pm when we got him to the car.

The vet said he hadn't come out of the post ictal stage and even if a stay in hospital brought him out of it, it wouldn't last long.

I'd been preparing for this since February and each week there was less and less of our happy handsome boy but even so it was still gut wrenching coming back to an empty house.

Our lives have centred round him including no more foreign holidays, they'd all been areas where the 3 of us could walk.

Thank you, I know you've been through the same thing.

You said it, what a dog. May he climb peaks and enjoy hearty sausages for always. Thoughts to you both, healing will come, happy memories will abide.

I'm gutted for you, sir. I truly am. Thank you for sharing his journey with us, he clearly was an amazing companion. May the heartache subside, in time, and may his life and memories forever be a pawprint on your heart.

You should take comfort in the great life you gave him and all your efforts at the end. I had a similar experience with a cat who lived 25 years with me. It鈥檚 so weird when they are just not there anymore but we all have an unknown expiration date stamped on us. My condolences very sad indeed
