We have given up on the no dogs on the beds rule 😀

Hahaha that rule went out of the window years ago.
Whenever we stay in a cottage in the Lakes, Dales or Peaks part of our boy's ritual is to run round the place including jumping on furniture and beds before we can stop him.

Maharishi Yogi doing his multi time daily high wire act. First time I’ve seen him miss a step but he made an excellent recovery. He seems to act like it was part of the show. Now he’s hiding somewhere saying “oh shit that could have killed me.” Excuse the multi pictures but my life is preset boring and I live vicariously through Maharishis antics

A bit of a longer story today.....a little over two years ago we lost one of our cats, Merlin, followed last year by his sister. the solace of this pet lover's thread helped a lot, and eventually we adopted a couple of rescue kittens who are now in charge. They had some odd behaviours but mostly have settled down. We moved into a new house about six months ago and this seemed to help too. Maybe the ghosts of their predecessors in the old place were too much.

Mrs. P and I have also developed some new routines and I thought that this arrangement every morning was one of hers, with cat toys neatly at the base of the scratching post (this morning's picture).

I am usually up and off to work before she starts her day and so she thought that I was doing this. It's been almost every morning since I went back to work in March after the move.

We were discussing this over coffee on Tuesday morning and she asked me why I did this (as the only place I am this concerned about tidying is at work or working on a motor).....after a bit of back and forth, turns out that this guy has a bit of a problem when things are out of place, or covers up a space that was previously empty. There is wailing and gnashing of teeth whenever some new knickknack (see candles in background) shows up, and if it's movable then he moves it.

The bags in this picture went on the floor pretty quickly as the counter is usually clear. He is out of sorts as well when daily routines are disturbed, it has been a rough six months for him with the comings and goings of tradespeople associated with new house issues.

So as an experiment, yesterday evening I distributed the cat toys around the room....and voilà, this morning's result was the usual as pictured above. He denies responsibility.

😲 Wait - you have a pet that tidies the house?? Please, would he consider coming over and training my family? 😀

Cats are largely creatures of habit, and some of them don't respond that well to change. On the other hand, Cat Logic is strange and twisted, and whenever I think I've worked it out, I get proved wrong big time. You'd think I'd learn... 😟

What I can say is that life WITH a cat is never dull.

Have you tried Feliway @Paedipod ?

I was camping in the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness last weekend with Max. On our first night there, we camped in a lovely spot under Red Dirt Pass, and it brought back memories of the times I had camped in the same place with Zelda. I even found photos and a video of her there from 2015 with my tent in almost the same exact place. I'm still missing her every day.

They give us total devotion and happiness their whole lives, but it comes at an awful cost.

She looks very happy there.

As usual, so nice that you can enjoy those moments with your four legged family members!
Zelda was a gorgeous lady 😀

Unfortunately it’s only his stuff that he tidies. When he goes in my office it’s usually just firing pens and paper onto the floor. Not sure that he will be a great role model.

yes. We do use Feliway and it has worked wonders for him and his more skittish sister, but he visibly relaxes when “strangers” leave the house. Has not changed the toy tidying, and I have no complaints there.

I found "Nellie" running towards me down the middle of the road. I turned around to see if she was OK as she disappeared into the verge and I found her lying in long grass not far from where she had passed me, which I thought was strange - It turned out she was totally blind, hence the reason for a total lack of road sense.

I threw her in the car, took her home and after a few months of decent food and lots of attention, she eventually went to her forever home. We would have kept her but we already had loads of animals, so this was a foster mission to save this poor pup.

Got-ya Day.

Nellie with her favourite toy.

Final hug before she flew to the UK.
