Doing some visits today I really like this cat Smokey but he’s putting on some serious weight.

@Omegafanman how did you get her to stand on her hind legs? My old buddy Baxter used to do that frequently but hairy has “deformed” back legs (sounds bad but she was just born with it and she gets around fine but she can’t stand on her hind legs) so that is a cool shot as it real common for cats

She has always done that when curious - I think maybe because she has a low and big centre of gravity (in the nicest possible way) she also takes food from your hand very sweetly which makes it an easy trick to pull. Old boy is not such a pushover and remains unimpressed.

I actually scolded my wife for getting the wrong treat. Hairy likes one called “temptations”. She is very fussy and will walk away from many treats. I had to apologize as hairy is definitely feeling the treats my wife got. Although weird as hec this is what hairy does. She knows what cabinet the treats are in and she will sit and stare at that cabinet until I break out the treat. This can go on for a long period of time. Twenty minutes once. I know it’s mean but I timed it with my chrono. She won’t meow, just stares. I came downstairs and she was doing it. It wouldn’t be so bad but the fact she doesn’t meow just strikes me as odd.

@Walrus : Lucky you she doesn't open the cabinet and help herself! Aramis does it - not Petunia nor Despina, so far! - and it is quite annoying. The worst is he can open the box I put the food in, even the big and strong one. So they are now stored in a very secured place, haha!

[put on the wrong way for salary for a second pause nauseous oh me do you see what she said she made a pig over salsa right here she has food and she can’t clean this area it must’ve been the salmon crazy right over here open the YouTube or no invite out what time are you up to tATTACH]1388219[/ATTACH]
I had a cat that did that as well. He would open the cabinet and tear open boxes/bags. He was very good at it. Hairy is limited as she was declawed. Not by me, when I rescued her she was minus front claws. I think it’s a horrible thing to do to a cat when I feel her paws you see it’s not just nails that are missing but a lot of bone supporting the paw. I think I read in a human it would be comparative to removing up to the knuckle. In big cats it can form pain later in life as the paw lacks proper support to keep the animal upright. I noticed my cats who have been good “treat stealers” use their nails to assist them in opening doors and cabinets. I’m sure if hairy was intact she would get those things herself. As a matter of fact if she had thumbs and could open the cat food can on her own she would probably have little use for me.

Afternoons are for naps. Not very helpful if you are hanging out in endless zoom meetings.

Now the weather is better Old Boy is venturing out a bit more. Having said that if finding ways to look relaxed on an office chair became an Olympic sport, he would be a gold medalist..

Golly gee I am pleased with my vet. Little Ms. Sooper Dooper continues the decline I have needed to increase her meds asked the doc if I could get a larger bottle of meds she obliged and gave me two months worth. I’m trying to monitor things closely sometimes you can go overboard and intervene too much medically but it really seems like with the med and hydration she is ok. I notice her back bothers her at times but she passes her physicals. Weight loss like a 1/4 pound which is concerning. I hate making the decision a sentient being should not have life but tbh I hope if need be someone pulls the plug on me if I’m at that point
