Unfortunately my old pal is not keeping well, last dose of Promax shortly which will hopefully help but he is really showing his age over the past few days 🙁

My thoughts are with you, my friend! Hopefully, these are just a few hard days... Neo sends positive vibes to his fellow senior friend.

Old boy is doing ok after a wobbly period (digestive issues) but he did have a humourous shut down today / looked like I would have to reboot him. He is snoring now as I write this and I think he might be drinking too much wine at dinner. His dining chair towel is in case of any spillages ;0) - the last photo is his more natural position during any cooking if he is on good form...he hates the winter so we are all looking forward to the summer.

Old boy slightly better today and our thanks for the kind wishes 👍

An image taken when youngster arrived, I look at my old pal and can almost hear him thinking " what have I done to deserve this" 😁

Was changing smoke and CO detector batteries on Monday. A ten minute job at this tenant’s house lasted an hour… for obvious reasons.

I had to apologize to my wife as she got the cat food this week and didn’t come back with a specific food I need for sooper dooper who can’t successfully eat many brands these days. She was prepared for my scolding her and took pictures of the cat food shelf at a major US grocery store. Talk about sparse it looked like the pictures we used to see of old Soviet era stores with empty shelf’s.

Are you guys facing this issue? It does seem to hit cat food more so than dog food but this week it was everything.

We usually order dog food from Amazon, but in general the shelves are pretty empty. With three dogs, it's nice not to have to lug the heavy bags around. To make matters even worse, the workers are on strike at our usual supermarket, so we are going to a different one.

In the UK we have had trouble sometimes but so far have always found something he will eat at one of the stores. The trouble is he is so fussy these days we cant buy in bulk in case he goes off it. Having said that when he says 15 kinds of nope we donate it to a local cat charity so it is not wasted / those alley cats live like kings on occasion. For sure back to your point there have been some shortages of certain products.

I did use Chewy once which was interesting got sixty pounds of cat litter and like 4 packs of 24 can variety pack the crazy part was because I spent over a certain amount it was free shipping. I don’t know how they can make a profit on that just the 60lbs of cat litter shipping had to be expensive. We haven’t done that again it might have been an introductory offer as my wife is a pro at scoping out deals like that.

As an aside does anyone else suffer this issue - He has been having the usual all over cats lick and a promise wash... He has just had his dinner so we can relax and have ours later without interuption.... Then some lap time before he has his after dinner snooze... One minute he is admiring Gene Cernan...and then he goes for a kiss ...and not speaking cat I am too polite to say no. I need to get him a better toothpaste :0).

Yes, hairy got this habit of jumping on my chest when I lay down and she will try to position her big fluff ball face an inch from mine. Then of course she has to yawn at which point I got stank breathe and whisker pokes. Usually I can just slide her away but she manages to get a couple good ones in a week.

Ya Mr. @Omegafanman my wife literally got the very last 24 can box left in the grocery store. Fortunately two weeks ago I went to a different area and hit the Motherload and still have some fancy feast and this high protein stew I get sooper. I didn’t hoard I hate when people do that I was just lucky they just must have got an order and there was enough for all.
I really don’t get how cats get so finicky. Back when sooper was healthy and I had Baxter (pre hairy days) I would attempt to make them eat a brand they didn’t like by only giving it to them but they literally would not touch it and would have full bowls of food but meow for something different. One time I pushed it out two days then I started feeling like I was neglecting them and ran out and got the stuff they like. Are they in the know that they can easily win these battles or is the stuff so bad it’s inedible. Im sure if they were feral they would scoff it all down. I can’t remember ever having any type of dog food my dog wouldn’t inhale.

But this new issue we face damn if you told me a few years ago you would not find one can of food on the shelf of some of the countries biggest retailers (yes that has happened) I would have laughed. What a ridiculous thought. Yet here we are living it. It bothers me more than the lack of human food for some reason. I can make something decent out of whatever is available although I miss a nice steak which seems hard to come by lately but the damn cats are much more demanding. Is this the sign of end times? I don’t recall cat food mentioned in Revelations but Revelations has a lot of allegory so I could be missing a major sign here. I need to learn Greek and read the original text get to the bottom of this. I’m pretty sure the end is neigh, damn I’m in the money on some calls as well this is kinda sad to take in at the moment.

I hear you. I think this is also down to a lot of companies and Governments riding their luck and chasing unsustainable profits in the good times without much thought for resilience. Supply chains and stock levels have got extended, staff levels are stretched, training schemes reduced etc etc, and in the pandemic they cut all possible costs. In air ballon terms they would cut the basket off to gain height / we are all just sandbags. We are a flexible, reactive and populous species which is perhaps our best defence despite all our planning. I imagine they will reset slowly. Things are getting better in the UK... but when the good times are back they will fill their boots again (we love mending the roof in the rain it seems). The usual suspects have come out well so I suspect we have a bit further to go before one of the plethora of risks that the press / inter web tells me about on an hourly basis (cooling of the earth core and asteroids last week :0) takes us all out. We have chicken and Tuna as a fall back for Old boy - and indeed cats are damn belligerent creatures which won’t put up with any sh-t.... which is why we like them :0)

In the book “The World Without Us,” author Alan Weisman investigates what would happen if humanity mysteriously vanished from the globe. ....Basically if humans vanished from Earth, eventually, house cats would take over the world.

Yesterday I was late getting home as I needed to go to Home Depot. Hairy was thrown off a bit. Today I was home at 4:45. It was below 0 today but at 4:40p my wife said hairy was demanding to go outside to greet me. I didn’t see her as I pulled up but as soon as I opened the car door I heard the welcoming meows then she follows me into the house. I don’t know why she likes this so much.
