Wherever we are, the dogs are monopolizing the couch, currently at our mountain getaway home. We've received more than four feet of snow in the past three days, so there has been a fair amount of couch-time. Mrs. S just returned from taking Max on his first ski adventure, and he is particularly pooped.

My last week of teaching police recruits. During some of my classes I mentioned my love of animals. This was a most unusual parting gift, but it will benefit our local animal shelter, or, maybe I can convince my wife that we now need a dog. (It would be easier to buy a 321 Speedy).

Even though I am nearly done at the Academy, I will work the shooting range in January until my retirement on the 31st.

NB: That's my wife’s very cool Honda.

All the goodies have gone to shelters, wildlife rehab and a feral cat sterilization organization. But I kept some toys for my friend’s dogs. And he saved them for Christmas morning.

Just got some photos from my wife of her skiing with Max. In this sequence, she was skinning up through some Aspens and called him back to her. You can see that he gets off the track in the second photo and sinks completely down in the powder. It looks like the conditions were pretty difficult and I know she cut the route short since the snow was so deep and mostly untracked; Max had to work really hard.

Until three months ago when we adopted him, Max rarely left his yard, and when I started taking him for walks in the neighborhood, he was totally done after about 2 miles. But he's a young strong dog, and it's amazing how far he has come. He loves to be outdoors and run around.

Sadly my old pal doesn't venture far these days but this is a shot from way back of the star that he is on one of our hiking tours 🥰

Cat recovering after a stressful visit to the vet. She has tapeworm. We discovered this by the little grub like grains on her butt. I took advantage of my devastated wife by having a bowl of couscous salad! Haha! Grossed her out!

This retirement thing will get me in trouble.

Old boy is having a lie in today so he can stay up for New Year’s. Hopefully not too many fireworks as he is not a fan.
He was stealing all the seats again last night - he likes a challenge when they are already occupied....

Morning walk with the wee boy, I suspect he keeps looking back for our old pal but unfortunately these days are over.

Sometimes we worry how many more Xmas we will get with old boy. He shows his age a bit more and has some health issues, but he has had another great Xmas. This is him chilling out today. Fresh chicken still seems to perk him up ;0).

Probably the best holiday picture I’ve taken of this ferocious beast in her sweater. We were driving around looking at Christmas lights last week.

Looks like you were dangling a stuffed squirrel in front of her...

Great pictures, and sweater!

And with the Equafleece underneath it really keeps him cosy 👍

Maeve didn't seem to enjoy the full snowsuit experience, complete with the head gear...

I got a distinct "Get me out of this Dad!" vibe from her....😀

We had exactly the same experience with the youngster, tried a couple of different sizes to no avail 🙁

After a very relaxing Xmas break I seem to have adopted a ‘five’ toed Sloth..... enjoying some sunshine which finally broke through after a few grey days.
