The grapes surprised me I just didn’t figure a dog would be big on fruit but she liked it all.
When I was a kid we had a dog who definitely liked grapes, but preferred them peeled 🙄 His big favourites were carrots, raw or cooked.

If you peeled grapes for your dog you are an evolved being, congrats that’s like level 9 stuff

Only when he had been good.

Fairly old when this photo was taken.

SHAVING A PYR?!! Say it ain't so. The hair will never grow back properly. There are people here that use them as guardian dogs and they tell me they actually do better in heat than you would think because the coat provides insulation. This one has no idea, he's never worked for a living and spends a great deal of time inside. He just walks to the door when he's had enough heat. My wife's baby, was her anniversary present 3 years ago. First one I've ever had and just a really exceptional dog, one of the best I've ever had. But, if you grew up with them you already know that 😀
They are so-called “working dogs”. More like the city workers round here. A lot of supervisors but work when they have to. This one would hike all day for a drink of water then a dip in the lake at the end of the trail. We had to hope that he dried off before the trip home in the car.

and a gratuitous mischievous puppy pic

Just FYI - grapes are actually toxic to dogs, so not recommended that they eat them...

And especially keep your eye on the raisins. A typical medium size dog has a chance of being poisoned by a large bunch of grapes, but if they get into a container of raisins, that can be really dangerous.

How about tinsel? Every darn Christmas my dog would eat the tinsel off the tree then leave sparkling droppings for a week. Never understood that one, she was a good dog, just not the smartest I guess.

Well, there would seem to be an easy solution for that.

Patient: Doctor, it hurts when I do this.
Doctor: Stop doing that.

He lasted until 19 or 20 years old, so I don't think I poisoned him, thank goodness. He would only get a couple, especially if they were peeled! His favourite carrots seem to be recommended now 👍

100% people need to be careful but dogs have survived as omnivorous scavengers and hunters alongside us a very long time. Some seem to have a strong intuition for their food. I knew someone who said his terrier would wolf human food down but somehow still leave the mushrooms and Onions on the plate. I also knew a staffy who used to steal chocolate off the Xmas tree and once after a theft had a ‘toffee’ incident which did need human help... and it lived to a rip old dog age (the family also moved to tinsel decorations only ....)Being an obligate carnivore old boy is less of a concern ;0)

Some perhaps. I used to look after my neighbour's dogs (and cat, ducks & chickens) when they were frequently away, and one of the dogs would seek out and eat every 100-year-dead rabbit he could find. There was no way I could get it off him but after eating it he'd be throwing up for days. He was also not safe to be let off the lead, gone for at least a day if he escaped. His mother on the other hand was the most docile and reliable type and was entirely safe to be allowed to wander around on her own. Mother named "Puppy", son named "Pest" 😎

No worries - you do you. I just wanted to make people aware.

Our Ridgeback, Opus, loves raw Brussels sprouts. When my wife cuts them in half prior to roasting them in the oven, he stands behind her and kicks up a huge fuss until she drops some on the floor.

Obligatory photo:

Stop! Thief!
The resident squirrel escaping with a mouth pouch full of peanuts. We put them on the fence for him. He figured out the peanut source was on the patio table. So he has cut out the middle man and goes right to the bag of peanuts.

Rhododendrons and azaleas are also toxic to dogs. We almost lost a puppy after he chewed on an azalea.

Probably a buch of other plants are toxic too. Strangely, eating crap, throwup, rotten fish and shoes doesn't harm them one bit.

Our dogs generally test those types of potential snacks by rolling in them first. 🙄

Use your vaunted sense of smell dammit! 🤦

Here's a breakthrough. The first time I've seen all of them together like this. It looks like Opus and Zelda are starting to accept Max. 👍
