I was really surprised, a while back I watched this Natural geographic special about these wild desert cats in Egypt. One of their main foods is cobras. They showed a battle between a wild Egyptian cat and a cobra, it was a pretty long battle but the cat had cobra for dinner that night. Those particular cats aren’t much bigger than out house cats but more muscular probably similar to what we call bobcats. Scientists actually think that hissing sound cats make they picked up from centuries of fighting cobras. I think they narrowed it down and determined the first cats probably came from what is today Israel. They didn’t give statistics on who is victorious in these cat/cobra fights percentage wise but saying it’s one of their main food sources leads me to believe I guess the cats to pretty well. I always find it interesting reading or watching educational stuff about cats and dogs. So much stuff I never knew. I’m pretty sure either of my cats wouldn’t do to well against a cobra but of course those weren’t house cats in that documentary, just looked similar.

If they had more of those cats in Australia it might actually be a safe place to visit...

Cobras...interesting I recall reading a book as a youngster about a mongoose battling a cobra, set in India. Looking for the title of the book, but can't find it. Did find this though...

Turns out lots of things eat cobras, even birds...

Rikki-Tikki-Tavi by Rudyard Kipling? It stands out in my memory also.

My father was stationed in India until the end of the British Empire in 1947 - his unit kept a mongoose as a pet, inevitably called it Ricky. I wish I could find a picture, but dad said they all swore he protected them all in their tents!

The only time I've seen a mongoose is on the Big Island of Hawaii, where they are pretty common. I saw them often as I walked around and didn't originally know what I was seeing. I believe they were introduced to control rats, but have become a problematic predator and are considered an invasive species.

Teef...

I hope you have that photo of Bentley as the lock screen photo on your phone.

It's interesting that the third eyelid on his left eye (or maybe it's the conjunctiva) is unpigmented. My first Boxer had the same trait. The vet would always look at her and think that she had some inflammation, but after looking closely would see that it was just her coloring. Here's a photo from when Rosie was very old. She made it to almost 14.

Going back in time before my wee pal joined us 😀

I made a pact with Neo that he will still stay for 5 more years with us ... He is 9 now, so hopefully that should take us to almost the same age as Rosie. It is already good for boxers I believe.

When I was at the vet with sooper the cat a couple people were marveling when they heard the vet say sooper was 23. A couple people waiting came up to look at her of course we did some small talk. One girl was telling me her dog made it to 20years old. You obviously take good care of neo I think five years is a very realistic goal. I wish you the best I love your pictures of him and the scenery in your area is beautiful.

You keep treating her like that and she might just decide you're a keeper.

A wee question I hope someone may be able to answer ?

My old pal as some of you know is heading for his fifteenth birthday and although he has gone through several major health problems he is now as fit and healthy as he can be given his age.
Deafness does not seem to bother him but over the past few days he has just not wanted to be left even with his wee buddy, if we leave the room for just a minute or too he will start to bark and even that is more of a squeal.
I am assuming it is just a possesive issue of some sort but has anyone else come across this issue ?
