We got Stan back late last night, had to monitor his breathing for a few hours as the drugs had left his palet quite relaxed, queue some pretty extreme snoring/ difficult breathing.

Vet suspects osteomyelitis in his leg, which can't have been very pleasant. No idea how it got there either.
He's currently monumentally pissed off with me while eating biscuits on the sofa.

Relief all round, thank you all for the wishes.

At least she can't open the fridge door and stare inside for ten minutes with the door open like kids.

Fur and whiskers are in fine form (winter coat post brushing). Some real 'cats eyes' with the flash....Not sure what he gets up to on Saturday night but the old boy always perks up a bit and looks his best.

Don't worry, he'll get over it and forgive you in a couple years when it's time to talke him back.
Ha ha. He is back now. I trim his nails but he hates that to and really fights so I usually get two or three done by then he is in full freak out mode so I do them all over the course of a week. I must have missed one as one of his nails curved over and was growing right into his pad. Looked pretty damn bad and with work and covid restrictions at the vet it took a while to get an appointment. As soon as he got home I gave him a treat and he was willing to let bygones be bygones. He does hold resentments when I inadvertently step on his tail (only happened twice in ten years) and times I鈥檝e gone away from home for a number of days he seems to hold that against despite having no qualms about attacking me during a nail trimming session.

Friend of mine had a cat that could not only open the fridge door and extract any cheese in there to eat, but could get reach up to the handle of the kitchen door and get that open too! A small bolt was added to the kitchen door at a height the cat couldn't reach. I suppose dragging a chair over there was beyond its strength -- but I'm damn sure it crossed the cat's mind! His previous cat had discovered that the 3-phase motors on the machine tools in his workshops got toasty warm and would sit on them despite the vibration and noise.
