Thought I lost my pup yesterday. Took Connie to the vet for a UTI. Connie is a owners dog. Other people and she gets uncomfortable and tense. The vet and assistant took Connie in the back for a urine sample. It was taking a while but I figured the vet was only one a duty. So the vet comes back and says Connie has a problem. Vet says they were putting Connie on her back for a urine sample(catheter I assume). Said Connie a had a seizure and stopped breathing. They had her on Oxygen and her eyes were dilated. So I spent the next hour massaging my poor dog and talking to her. Slowly over this hour Connie came out of her unconsciousness. Her eyes were wide open and dilated almost the entire time. I was thinking she had a stroke. The vet was dumbfounded and didn’t know what to offer during this time. Connie came out of it finally and she seems just fine today. She is her old self, but the episode was very unsettling to say the least.
Hey glad to hear it worked out. I had a similar issue with my elderly cat, the 21 year old one I have pictures of me giving IV fluids to. One morning I saw her laying in an odd position. Her eyes were partially opened but glazed over. I picked her up she was like a rag doll, very slow respiration no response to me shaking her a bit. I called the vet made an emergency appointment while I was getting the cat carrier she literally jumped up, began meowing and made her way to the food and water bowl like nothing happened. It’s the first time I saw it but knowing how much cats sleep this could be happening frequently. I think this goes back two years ago. She is still trucking. Will be 22 at the years end. Vet never figured it out and I haven’t seen it happen since. For months I would randomly poke her when she was sleeping which I’m sure annoyed her I was just trying to see if it was happening. Hopefully it was just a weird thing and your pups marches on like my cat.

Zelda was in a similar mood yesterday.

Obviously... Why sleep in the bed when you can do it next to it 😀

So cool. I said here a couple times I almost ended up with parrots from some other people who wanted to will them to me. Unfortunately one died of an unknown illness about a month before I was going to pick it up and the other was killed by a cat which was strange because as far as I knew they said the cat and the bird got along well. It was a tough subject for them so I decided not to ask further questions. What types of birds do you have I’m always amazed by them and their intelligence

Big parrots are something that are best chosen for how they work with you and your environment. This is my second Macaw as I had one several years ago when I lived in Singapore and the two are totally different personalities. I also had an African Grey who was brilliant when I lived in Saudi and he would be here with me now except for a lazy bureaucrat. I haven't given up hope though as I have a mate who is going back there and hoping that we can track him down.

To answer your question as to what we have now.
We have Mango the Macaw..

Peck, Gregory Peck the Parrotlet which are the smallest Parrot breed and he is great company. Peck thinks he is as big as Mango😀

The Gouldian finches which are native to Australia. A little slice of my birth country.

And finally the Budgies or Budgerigars, who are also native to Australia..
We were given three by a friend of my wife's because they didn't want them anymore. The cage on the top of the big cage is what they used to keep them in. I couldn't believe it and immediately had the one they are in now made. The number grew to five and now with the new babies 7 with more on the way. As from tomorrow there residence will more than double as we extend to accomodate the swelling numbers😀

So sorry to hear that @STANDY. To lose both in such a short time is devastating.

Very sorry to read that, I am sure Minx had a great life with you and Boney. Despite all the logic / knowing they have shorter lives than us it always hits hard... but still worth it / such special bonds across species.

I still think he is trying to work out what I find so fascinating about the laptop - word docs and spreadsheets are not his thing.
He does still like the mouse.... but only on the ipad. Him being part Norwegian Forest cat I think I need to move to a Norwegian forest. Based on this cat I assume they never have any wind, rain, snow or temperatures below 22 degrees … because he assumes the curl of despair in all those conditions (wake me up when it is over). I think the extra furry feet and neck ruff must just be to protect them from sunstroke in the Caribbean like conditions of the Norwegian forests.....

Oh no... Really sorry to read this. Pets are really a full member of the family, and losing one is surely very emotional and heartbreaking.
All my thoughts with you and the rest of your family in these next lonelier time. None of them really leave, as they remain in our hearts forever.
