He isn’t tagged? We have them around the area I work. My coworker was late for work as the bear was too close to her car. She showed me the pic the bear had 2 or 3 tags already it very well may be killed as it lost its fear of humans. Each time the state moves it from a populated area they tag it.
No, this one doesn't seem to be tagged yet, but he may be after today.
I’m not 100% sure how it works. I think my state does its best to try to find a preserve for them. They do the best they can to avoid having to kill them which is good I mean we are the ones messing them up. They really did make a big comeback in my state though it used to make news when they were spotted now it’s more like “damn another bear in the dumpster”
Here, they give them a reasonable chance to move on, but if they linger, they sedate them, tag them and take them far out of town into the mountains in a wilderness area. If they come back to town, they euthanize them. I don't think they get a third chance.
I got this down to a science now. I need to give sooper dooper 5ml 2 times daily. I’m at the point that she will purr as I do it. I’m now convinced she will make it to her 22nd B-day. Pretty good as the vet was talking about putting her down when she was 17

Our vet was big on the sub Q fluids for very elderly cats. It can really prolong life, with good quality. The only drawback is that it is a big commitment on the caretaker's part. You are doing a great thing! 😀
My forever-faithful yellow Lab "Chester" lasted 15 years for us.
I cannot ever communicate how tough it was to say good bye to him and have him put down.
But, I knew it was the right thing to do.
I'm thinking God gives us dogs to teach us what love and devotion is all about.
Pretty dog. I think 14-15 years was how long my Shepard Duchess lasted. You are right though all those years she wanted to be everywhere I was and putting her down was extremely difficult. I know we have cat/dog people but I’ve always been both. Cats are just a little lower maintenance and they don’t do the whimper, cry when you don’t take them for a ride. The only really bad part of pets is that damn goodbye when you put them down but we give them good life’s and they give us loads of entertainment and Companionship it’s worth it, doesn’t make the end easier of corse
I cannot share the depth of heart-ache emotions transpired on the day I took my faithful dog to the Vet to have him put down.
But, sadly, all of us must face the reality that isn't going to happen in this lifetime.

Good for you for making the decision to take him to the vet. It is tough love, but the right thing to do.
On my morning walk I see lots of people out with their dogs. Occasionally I see dogs who are clearly very old, in pain and miserable, hardly able to put one paw in front of the other, and it saddens me because from where I stand it looks like owner selfishness. They would probably say they love their dog too much to have it put down, but to me it is just denial and unnecessarily cruel.
