I was just about to post this image of my pal and I enjoying a hike way back in 2008 and I see the sad post from @gostang9 and my thoughts are with you and yours at this time.
As our four legged friends advance in years every day is precious and all too soon all we will have is memories.

So sorry to hear about Jasmine.

I was not a big dog person, but fell in love with my wife's Cocker Spaniel when we got married 27 years ago, and she died almost 20 years ago. We missed having a dog so much that we bought the kids a Sheltie soon after the next year, in 2000. I fell in love with her as she was my constant companion when I worked only 2 days a week (disabled). She lived until 2016, dying the day that we took our son to his first year of college away from home.

This time I was so heartbroken that I didn't want another dog, because I didn't want to have to deal with the loss again. That only lasted 2 years and we adopted our Addie at 9 months of age on Memorial Day weekend 2018, from a home that couldn't care for her the way she needed.

So, now my Addie is 2.5 years old, and I see posts of what you're going through with Jasmine, and I know how much it hurts and how hard of a decision you face as to whether to get another dog or not. I pray that you get comfort here and from family and friends after the loss, and can come to a decision easily about what you do after all of this.

Addie sez Hi!

Gratuitous shot of my Speedmaster Pro in this one (also not crooked, thanks OCD)...

Very sad day in our household as we said goodbye to Jasmine (miniature Poodle) yesterday. She was with us for 11 great years, but not nearly enough.

Funny how I was the one who didn't originally even want a dog, but my wife and daughter decided we should get her and so of course we did. Somehow she quickly became my dog, and as I normally work from home, she's been by my side on countless conference calls, meetings, and long hours spent at my desk. Today is a very difficult day being the first without her here...

RIP Jasmine (Nov 6/2007 to Feb 4/2020)

Happy dog!

Regal dog!

Showing off with the top down.

She hated getting her hair cut, but she loved the attention afterward and got a kick out of taking the convertible!

I took her with me for a final drive in the convertible before trading it in. She accompanied me on so many adventures...

She even went kayaking with our daughter when out for a day of boating and fun on the water...

Just another member of the family!

She loved the daily walks. When it was colder out, she would wear her little red jacket.

I installed a basket on one of my bikes and would take her on family rides. She loved it! The wind in her hair, sights and smells rushing by!

This was a special and memorable day. It was the best walk my daughter and I ever had with Jasmine. We went further than normal and stopped on the way home to take this photo. A few moments after this was taken, she decided to jump out of my arms as I was trying to let her down. Unfortunately, she somehow damaged her right rear leg (similar to a human torn ACL). It took 6 months before she could use the right leg again (scar tissue formed so she could walk) and in that time the added stress on the left leg resulted in it being injured. She never fully recovered and suffered from bad rear legs after this day. The last week she struggled to get up and walk at all. One of the saddest things was how she stopped following me from room to room as she's done for years... 🙁

One of my favourite pictures we have as a family. We took her on one of our annual trips to New Orleans shortly after she joined our family. We were having dinner downtown and our daughter took her for short runs along the sidewalk next to our table.

Not the best picture, but this was Jasmine decked out in NOLA's finest... 😎

Here she is with her pink leather booties preparing for a wintry walk...

A daily occurrence, walking her around the block. She loved to lead, although she didn't pull on the lead.

I met so many of our neighbours on our walks, I put in most of my 'steps' while walking her, I even placed a successful order for my ST2 Ultraman from my mobile phone while walking around the block with her.
Damn sad news but it looks like jasmine had a happy life. She looks happy in every picture. I always thought smaller dogs had a longer life span. I think my Shepard lived 11-12 years. Anyway always sad to see them go. Sorry to read this.

Linus, 2013-2020. We gave you a good life, now sleep well until we meet again.

So sorry to read this, I'm afraid I know all too well how it feels. It's devastating as they really, really become a part of you. Best of luck to you and the family.
