Not a pet but he lives at the bottom of our garden.

Very cool - the closest I came to seeing a hedgehog when I was in the UK was hedgehog flavoured chips (crisps) in the vending machine at work...

They used to be in my garden all the time 30 years ago, but now they are so scarce if I see (or hear) a live one I report it to the British Mammal Society's hedgehog survey. https://www.mammal.org.uk/about-us/latest-appeal/

OTOH when I found some hedgehog droppings in a reservation in New Zealand I reported the location to the Park Rangers because they are unfortunately a menace to the native wildlife, particularly ground-nesting birds 🙁

Since we have some wildlife going
Have a couple squirrels hanging around lately. They say the pupping season is in September. Little squirrels too?

Never too old to learn something new, a quick Google and a lot of info.

Many thanks for sharing 👍

It’s my daughter’s first birthday next week, and we had a family celebration yesterday. Primrose was getting into the party spirit.

That Shepard is looking at something. A juicy steak or somebodies leg?
Good lookin dog he/she is.
Lol, good eye, yes, she is a working dog from a great lineage. I used to compete with her in local Schutzhund trials (obedience, tracking, and protection). She is retired now and an absolute sweetheart... but she has insanely intense prey drives and ‘regular’ people cannot play with her & toys because they’ll react too slowly and get nipped up. There is no malice to her intent, but she will play to the death for her tug and it is easily misinterpreted. She can socialize safely around anyone who exhibits normal behavior and properly introduced - but toys are too much of a trigger because that is her reward system and only strategically permitted. BTW, I think she was just watching people boarding the ferry.

I can't recall whether I posted this before, but one of my students has a pet hedgehog that came into the office one time.

Boxers make perfectly good trail dogs as long as they get their food, water ... and rest.
