Incoming, prepare for Bulldog thread takeover.
Looked at this 4 week old puppy at the weekend, just said we’ll take him.

So this little cutie just learned how to use the potty bells. This is both good news and bad news for us. She now tells us when she needs to go out to the bathroom, but she also learned that bells = power. She rings them so that she can get us to get up to go out with her, over and over again.

Yeah, we had to get rid of our bells.

Cheers all, taken us a long time to decide on whether to get another one or not but a house isn't a home without slobber dripping from the ceiling 😀

Doggo question:

Gents, I will be relocating with the miss and the doggo. I’ll have to drive with my golf for 2000km more or less and is the first time I’m driving so much with my dog.

I was checking a bit online some recommendations and I was wondering what you could add to:

- obviously frequent breaks
- not driving too fast to avoid using the brakes harshly in case of danger
- limiting AC due to thermal shock between inside the car and outside (we are driving to Italy and is summer, so up to 40 Celsius)
- having some toys for her to play

... what else?

Thanks

Mine just go on the back of the ute , hot as hell and bumpy dirt roads and they love it 😉

Tilly jumps in and out herself nowadays.

( I got the door handle fixed the other day after some dickhead ripped it off drunk the other week )

Potty bells? All this time I never heard of them. I knew about Pavlov’s dog and its bell.
I don’t think I’ll start though.

Time to meet the family

Nice fish tanks, did enjoy the fish tank street in Ho Chi Minh. Vietnamese love a fish tank.
Last time in Vietnam all I bought was $2.60 worth of rocks for the fish tank. Misses thought I was crazy 🤨 buying rocks overseas ( would have paid $100 in Australia )

Have done a Iwagumi style tank similar to below a few times ( but too much work when I go away for work a bit in the last few years )

Thanks for that! Love the birds. We had a Goffins cockatoo for a number of years, and she was a real gem. She would sit on my chest and cuddle with me all evening, and would fly back to her cage to do her business, then fly back to me. When it came time to trim her nails, she would hold up her foot like she was a princess getting the finest treatment.

Sadly she had lead poisoning from a dish that came on a new cage (earthenware made in Mexico), and we had to give her daily injections of a chelating drug to help flush her system. It worked and she lived, but the trust between us and her was gone, and she changed dramatically after that. In the end we had to give her back to the breeder because she was injuring herself, so we were pretty torn up about that. Big mistake doing the injections ourselves...

But she was a great companion for many years. They are special creatures no doubt.
Hi Al,
Thank you. I know exactly how you feel about your Cockatoo. I don’t know if you remember when I was living in Saudi there was Ziggy and Nelson a very talkative African Grey. I had Nelson before Ziggy and Ziggy grew up with him, frequently going into his cage and playing with him as his cage was always open when I was home.

When it came time for all of us to go back home to Vietnam there was no problem with Ziggy but the CITES status had changed from a two to one for Nelson which made it a bit more complicated. After much back and forward between officials in Vietnam and Saudi it finally came down to the fact that the Saudis only had to respond to an email to the Vietnamese officials and all would be good however this appeared to be too hard for them during Ramadan and I had to leave the country without him.

I haven’t given up as a mate might be going back for work and he can take up the cause.

Ziggy as a kitten playing with Nelson..

Quite a bit bigger and not much changed😀

You train the dog to ring the bell when they need to go potty. It is a bit like Pavlov's dog with the roles reversed. She rings the bells and then I get up.

Big mistake at my end, wife and daughters are now continually asking if we have more puppy pictures 🤦

Oh yes and as old Sandy is deaf and the wee boy doesn't bother what is happening they now think we should also have another dog for security purposes 😵‍💫
Wonder where that came from 😉
