Difficult to follow the post of the star who will always be our 'Chunky'

A long walk with the wee boy this afternoon, unfortunately the old boy is not up to it these days and the worst part is leaving him behind and on my return my good lady telling me how much he was missing us 🙁

Youngster feeling the 16 degrees at five pm, crazy weather.

Have you thought about a doggo buggy? I scoffed at first, however having seen them in action with Frank, Mum primarily uses them to get both young and old out for walks with the pack. Little legs or old legs can take a rest on long boring bits and still trundle along when sniffins to be had.
[ Edit] looks a bit daft I know but they soon get used to it, love it even as they know they are going out

Wife called me early Monday at work. "Billy is dead" After several choked minutes I asked if she could move him for me. She could not, just could not do it. I said put a blanket over him till I get home...………..
About 5 minutes later she call and tells me the blanket is moving and Old Bill woke up.

Old Billy. 22-24 years old

I suspect we will be going down that route quite soon. Appointment with the Vet later today so we will see how it goes 🤔

I think I probably spoil my old pal ?

Heading to the vets and sitting next to me and why not?
A large fatty lump which is visible but thankfully not a concern at the moment, several other spots but again not causing concern and his hind legs still seem to have quite a bit of movement so we are on a course of anti inflammatory drugs which hopefully will do the trick.
Perhaps he is just turning in to a lazy old rascal 😀

A quick follow up on the old boy, issued thirty days worth of Metacam which we are going with at the moment but I remember several years ago giving him green lipped mussel tablets after he suffered a sprain and they worked really well.
Any one have any opinions on which you may have had experience with ?

Metacam is very effective in dogs in our experience.

Hope he is feeling better soon!

We have used tramadol/carprofen, but I'm sure it's very similar.

The formerly dead Old Bill running like the wind today. 70 degrees but likes his coat. He lifted his leg, haven’t seen him do that for a long time. Gave him a bath which he hated. Tried to give him a haircut. He was having none of that. He may have to be a furry mess

Zelda and I are trying to burn off our winter fat and build up some strength for summer backpacking. So a few weeks ago I loaded ~20 lbs of stuff into the pack and we have been hiking regularly in our backyard mountains. Mostly short hikes of 1-2 hours. Today, I had some extra time, so we had a nice 3 hour walk with a few thousand feet of climbing. Getting there...

OK, the truth is that only one of us has winter fat. 🙄

C. T. ........(cat tease, get your minds out of the gutter. 😝) Tell me this gray squirrel didn't know what he was doing. The reason my attention was brought to this situation was that I heard something hard keep striking the glass. It was Sophie's head, as she repeatedly tried to make a lunge for fresh meat.

After the departure of my dear boy Tet (standard schnauzer) we’re cautiously looking at a new dog in our lives.

Anybody experience with Australian Labradoodles?

Well a little over a week in, and Maeve is doing well and settling in fine. Here she is the other day resting her chin on my leg and looking as cute as she could..."I see you are eating a very nice piece of cheese, so would you mind giving me a little of that?" The answer was no by the way...

"This is MY couch!"

Learning to share...

Cuddles together...

I call this one "the Kong before the storm" because at first all was well when we put some peanut butter inside their Kongs to keep them busy. But the next day Maeve was back at hers trying to get some peanut butter than was left behind when Remi tried to take it, and all hell broke loose! It sounded much worse than it was, and no real damage was done, but she can be feisty when it comes to food and Remi trying to take it! I think Remi will be a little less likely to take her food in the future...

But she is a sweet girl overall, here sitting in my listening chair...

Cheers, Al

It's nice to see that she was spoiled enough in her previous life to think that she will get cheese by begging and to feel comfortable on the sofa. Sometimes show dogs come from a home with so many other dogs, they can be a bit neglected. I adopted a show-dog once, and while she became a wonderful pet very quickly, at first she was extremely naive about the most normal things, including riding in the car, going up/down stairs, or taking a "sniffy-walk".
