路Not quite a pet story, but?
Some years ago riding a bicycle along a very quiet rural road with a few farms on it I saw a cat come out of one farmyard with something small in its mouth. Cat saw me, rushed to the opposite side and dropped whatever it was carrying.
"What? I never saw a cat drop anything edible before!"
So I stop and wait and the cat emerges from the farmyard with another small thing in its mouth. OoohKaaay, Mommy is moving her kittens from the barn in which they were born to somewhere she considers safer. Problems with rats perhaps?
Another farm used to have piglets running out -- it was a very quiet road.
