That is a redial for sure. The font is the tell.

I think that VC dropped the ampersand in 1974.

Obvious redial, and, in any case, to characterize the obviously water-damaged dial as "clean", is shameful.

Gentlemen, I have one of these and it has been suggested by some (but not all) forum folk as a redial as well. It also has some water damage like the Hodinkee watch in question. And it has the exact same dial font

Mine:

Hodinkee:

Now, same model, same font. Does it suggest that both watches of the same model were redone by the same redialer? And afterward redialing suffered the same fate of moisture damage? (I am starting to think that there are too many coincidences) Or is there a possibility, however slim, that both are original dials (some forum members and my watchmaker seem to think so)

Not a VC expert, so I look to more learned opinions

Need a better and unobscured image of yours. The same font is not the same as the same execution...

Here ya go. Frankly I had long assumed that mine was a redial, but same model, same font and execution, and same water damage.. too interesting not to bring up!

Why would any watch company use a font that looks like it came from a Tim Burton movie title?

I know, what is the reason then - both refinishers used the same print die, or copies of the same print die on the same model watch, at a similar point in time so that both aged enough to get water damage on the dial? Not sure how likely that is, not a watchmaker

Anyhoo, if anyone wants mine, I'll be willing to let it go for far less than Hodinkee's , practically same condition and all, and serviced to boot ::psy::

Thanks. Same re-dialer.

I have seen the same type of "tells", though more subtle, in higher quality work done here in Portugal.

Hi everyone,

Thanks a lot for the heads-up and sorry for my belated reply, I was just flying back to Europe.

It is a very fair point regarding the font of the signature, let me inquire about it and I will withdraw the listing in the meantime as the last thing we would want to offer is an undisclosed redial.

Thanks again for the attention to the Shop and don't hesitate to share or reach out if you spot anything so that we can fix it immediately.

I wish you all some nice vacations,

Louis
