Why am I right? Up until your explanation post, not a single commenter on the thread argued about the intent of the image as a fat joke. The argument was around it's tastefulness. It is 100% clear what you were implying.
It's a personal attack, isn't it? Also a fat joke? I enjoy people ruffling feathers a little bit but I'm not going to support this kind of joke
You mean apart from this?
Now please, @R3D9 own up to your own mistake. And do get off that high horse, you look like a right idiot.
Again, it was not meant to be a fat-joke, it was meant to be a 'regular guy' joke... contrasting an actual accomplishment to a blog..
Is this discussion of a personal attack all about the astronaut/hipster comparison picture, or am I missing something? Because if that picture is the source of all this controversy I really don't get it. I see no personal attack or fat joke. That picture to me represents two kinds of people and the watch style they like. The professional astronaut/hero/intrepid explorer gets the Speedmaster. The self-absorbed hipster computer geek gets the (IMHO) hideous Hodikee. Both are special additions, but the two people in the picture have radically different ideas about what is "special." It's a slam on the Hodikee and nothing else, at least as far as I see.
FWIW i didnt even think "fat joke" until somebody else mentioned it amd even after that.... i just thiught it was meant to be what it is.... could have said " sat in his lazy boy with a laptop and a beer" but then it would seem he was calling him lazy.
Point is. Maybe one can skip the personal.... but this is a personal issued watch so it kinda relates.
Anyway, like the guy, hate the watch, and if you ask me SUPERDOC IS FAT AND OVER BLOWN AND IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE HE HAS MAN BOOBS. But i dont want to get personal about it either.

I'm happy to hear the intent of this wasn't as mean as it first appeared to me, but I still think it's very easy to take it as such. I'm still super confused by all the negativity evoked by these Hodinkee watches. Let's have more love, less hate
