Out of my price range, but pretty cool. I have yet to spot one of these in the wild but getting some Hodinkee-ites fitted with these will certainly increase the chances of seeing one.

I can't glean from the description if this watch is oil filled like the previous Ressence models... I assume not, because I always thought those watches were only oil filled as far as the dial was concerned, and not the movement.

I like the original Ressence - it's a cool looking watch - but the monotone grey look of this watch makes it even more difficult to read than the original. For me, job one of any watch I look to buy is being easy to read the time at a quick glance.

Welp, I'm sure there are twenty people out there in the world that want to pay $22 grand for a watch with a 2824 movement as it's foundation.

My reading of the announcement article seems to infer that the Hodinkee LE is not oil-filled.

Interesting, and I think there's definitely some positives coming from the collaboration, like the smaller case and lugs. Agreed that it's highly illegible and price-wise seems a little ambitious. The brand chosen makes sense given Kevin Rose's love of it.

Neat. Not my cup of tea. Got to hand it Ressance they do something truly unique and cool.

This one is not oil filled but you have to admit it's a pretty neat watch.

I hope it is a Hublot monstrosity

I stand corrected, it is a Ressence monstrosity.

Take a brand that has been lighting up the watch world with technically and aesthetically interesting pieces, produce something that reduces its technical interest by at least one (no oil-filed dial), make it more visually confusing (skeletonized dial to peer inside onto more ugly gray; low contrast dial elements), then slap an LE on it to charge a price that doesn't appear justified, especially if what makes the brand appealing isn't even part of the watch!

For Hodinkee, well whatever, but Ressence... come on guys... seriously? You went there, for 20 pieces?

Or, this is a sign of what's to come from Ressence. Which would be a huge, huge bummer.

Hey, if you like it, you like it and God bless you for that. Throw your cash down and share some WRUWs. 😀 ::stirthepot::

I remember first seeing the Type 3 a few years ago and thinking, " Wow, that's an interesting modern watch that I'd actually like to own". Then I saw the price and felt somewhat shocked and slightly disappointed that I'd probably never own one This LE looks to me like a slightly diluted version missing the original USP of an oil filled dial and with legibility issues, but I'm sure like everything else LE anno 2017 it will quickly sell out to the flock of hip sheeple who like this kind of "exclusivity"

Gotta hand it to Ressence and Hodinkee. The skeletonized dial works very well in this type 1H.

Nice looking watch, this one's not for me but I find it attractive. I'm still confused why there is so much criticism of these. They've put out 4 watches ranging from $2,500 to $45,000, usually in small batches, which makes them special (and easy to get if you are paying attention and ready to pull the trigger). They certainly like all-grey steel watches.

I love the Type 1B and am now on the hunt for one. Don't care for this LE much, but it's sold out already anyway, so it doesn't really matter.

I will pass, thank you. Not my cup of tea at all. But I can see the attraction, sort of. Big fan of some of their previous.

Ressence already had models without oil: all the original Type 1 and the new ones don't have it.

I pretended I was on the west coast of the US, and these sold out while I was still sleeping 😁

Indeed. My point was that this LE seems to deviate on more than one dimension of Ressence's now-established brand identity. I'll be happy for Ressence if it gives them a bit more exposure (must've been their goal) but the watch itself feels like the outcome of a deal struck at a time when Ressence probably wasn't as certain of their position in collectors' minds.
