Could you take a close up of above the 5 where the blue,s meet the subdial

In original photo it does look like there’s a flaw there, but to the naked eye and in these photos it is fine. Just a lighting thing.

I know it is not everybody’s cup of tea, but I’m very happy with it. Have been thinking about a blue dial for some time, and I’m a big fan of Hermes. I wear a suit to work every day, and I’m sure I’ll have this on my wrist quite a bit in ‘19.

It’s a beautiful watch to be sure, and a very elegant one to wear with a suit. I’m a big fan of Hermes too by the way. Here are some I have owned, I have sold them all except the last one.

These are terrific - esp love the first one and the last one.

They are making some really nice watches these days. The one you still have is newer, correct?

Thank you for the reply 👍

It's a cool watch, and Hermes has a rather large connection with a croc farm not that far from my place that supplies them most of their crocodile skins and has for over 40 years.
Quite a penny to be made collecting crocodile eggs in a few weeks from now.
You see the Cowboys do it with helicopters for TV but below is a better video of how it's mostly done.

Thanks for the kind words, no, the one I still have is not a newer one. It is one of their old iconic models they keep reissuing, now thicker and larger with automatic movements- mine is an ETA quartz movement probably from the 1990s or 2000s. Here’s a shot on a NATO strap.

Looks beautiful on the wrist! Very classic.

Totally off topic:

Just learned that Hodinkee is selling $12,000 hour glasses (100 limited run).

That's $1,200,000 in hour glasses they're hoping to unload. Sometimes I forget how wealthy people are.

These are "cheaper" versions of the ones Marc Newson made for Ikepod back in 2011...

The GMT was gone very quickly - under 20 minutes - the normal one was a slow mover, I was checking all day, and it was not sold out until late afternoon EST. I had it in my basket early on - I’m a big fan of Hermes too, but in the end I decided I didn’t like it enough to justify it. If I’m going to spend 8k on a watch, I have many more on the list before this.

this is exactly why I didn't end up purchasing one too. I like the idea that it is LE for Hodinkee and limited to 100, but for the price, i couldn't justify it

Hodinkee or not, Hermes watches are definitely respectable.

Hermes, Van Cleef & Arpels, Bucheron - all produce great watches. Chopard too, of course, but they are a bona fide horology house like Cartier.

“Slow mover” because it took like 5-6 hours to sell 100 Hermés watches at $8k 😀

Considering the way Hodinkee acolytes usually lap up anything they offer regardless of how it's priced, this is pretty telling

Well, the Vacheron took 6 hours to sell out. And we all saw what one of those just went for.
I just think it is funny to call it a slow mover. I bet they just sold as many Hermes watches as the company sells in a month+ around the world.

The Vacheron had an asking price of $42,000. There are many people who can and will drop $8k on a watch, not nearly so many at $42k. I think selling out 25 watches priced at $42k in 6 hours is very good performance, emblematic of the way Hodinkee can sell things to their followers

Maybe they intended to refer to the hourglass as the now famous metaphor of the shrinking middle class (that bottleneck in the middle) while the ultra rich and the poor are ballooning (the upper and lower part)....

Got mine and love it. I've never spent that much that quickly and without regret.

On balance when you compare cost/quality to other makers....Just don't measure up. Most recent had a 1mm difference lug width. Should have sent it back but I was busy and forgot about it.

Okay- I’ll bite. I’ve purchased their straps before and liked the quality. Curious whom you recommend for as good straps.
