History of the Aqua Terra series

Hello fellow Omega fans. I'm new to watches and starting to get my head around the various different modern Omegas. I'm still weighing up between a Globemaster and an Aqua Terra as my first modern purchase, so have been doing some research into the history of the Aqua Terra sub-series.

From what I can piece together, it seems like they first got the "teak" dial in around 2008, so you can still find older pre-owned ones with smooth dials. The first examples with the co-axial 8500 movement seem to be from around 2014, and then in 2017 they were refreshed again with the "teak" moving to horizontal and the date window moving down to 6 o'clock.

So my question is whether anyone knows of an authoritative source about the history of the series? I'm not talking about the various special editions, but just a good chronology of the basic differences between the different models to help me in my search for a pre-owned one.

Thought I would find another thread here with some useful info but I couldn't find anything similar, so thanks in advance for any pointers!

Oh yes, definitely blue. But does the date window look better at 6 o'clock or 3 o'clock....?

Now the real debate begins 😉

I prefer the date window at 6, though I really would like it trimmed. Failing that...I'll keep what I have.

Before getting my latest blue model AT, I considered that version. I think it looks fantastic.

Man, a no-date Master Chronometer with an 8900-series movement (quickset hour) would be all kinds of perfect.

I think you're right. I would like to see a fully lumed minute hand.
