@FFabian

Of course the 1861 has been used during spaceflight missions, it has been the Speedmaster most used in recent Soyuz flight to the ISS - International Space Station... very often worn over the left forearm of the Sokol spacesuit... and during spacewalks by Russian cosmonauts, strapped over the glove of their bulky one-piece Orlan MKS spacesuits... as recent as 18 November 2020 !

Is there any word on the 3861 being used yet?

I noticed the what I thought were goldish colored watches on white straps during the recent Soyuz MS-21 launch last week wondering where the traditional Speedmasters were.

Is it possible these new Omega/Swatch watches are currently flying on the ISS and will be revealed on the 26th?

Let me call it first.

Is it possible these new Omega/Swatch watches are currently flying on the ISS and will be revealed by the crew on the 26th?

If each was wearing a different color I would be more inclined to agree.. but that would be a cool introduction/reveal for sure.
Also not sure if they want a Russian slant as far as marketing goes currently.

I think multiple colors would be a dead giveaway.

Indeed and they could not foresee the current war situation...
Remember Omega also presented the X33 " Mars watch " Speedmaster from Space on board the Russian Mir space station...

I've been inclined to think over the past few days (discussed at length here pages 5-7) that the MS-21 crew were possibly wearing the new Omega/Swatch watches but there are a few other images out there that show the case being a bit more reflective and would not be in line with the matte yellow finish.

I'm still thinking it's possible but I don't know. Let's see if the 26th brings some sort of reveal.

The mystery continues.

From Robert Pearlman at collectSPACE:

I asked my contact at Swatch about the watches worn by the Soyuz MS-21 crew and was told, "These are not the new Moonswatches."

So yet another Soyuz mission without any Omega watches as we discussed in the SWFG... although Russian commander Oleg Artemyev was wearing 4 wristwatches.
The full Russian crew was planned to do further integration work on the Russian Prichal module which was added on the ISS last year.
BTW currently working on a book about the ISS covering the 2005 - 2022 period

The full Russian crew

Mala’s the first full-Russian crew in, what, 22 years (?) it would not surprise me to find the “new” watches being worn are Russian made.

And gold.

Part of me hopes they stick with mechanical watches for launch and re-entry. A request for a chute deployment manual mechanical override was a common theme from old hands on the modern capsule designs. It is nice not to have everything electronic and it can be critical in an emergency.

Or despite the demise of Poljot...
Did the Russian cosmonauts return to using Russian-made chronographs as they originally did in the 1960s (Shturmanskie, Strela,...) through the 1980s and 1990s (Poljot 3133 & Shturmanskie 31659)... that would be " trend setting " (September 2021 Oleg Novitsky wore a Konstantin Chaykin black chronograph strapped over his Orlan MKS space suit during 2 consecutive spacewalks outside the ISS)

I'm done speculating after missing it bad on the MoonSwatch call.

Just so strange that any of the pictures out there for MS-21 are either screen shots or unclear still images. Here is one I found this morning, again nothing clear.

@SpeedyPhill thanks for that picture and video.

From the video, I was able to grab two angles that lead me to a temporary conclusion about the make of this watch - and that in a way might satisfy Occam's razor (you’ll see what I mean momentarily)

First, check out the beefiness and aesthetic width of the lugs:

Next, from this other angle emphasizing the pushers, check out what appears to be rather “heavy” looking metal work about the pushers and crown, suggesting the vibe of screw-down pushers and large crown protection - that’s a lot of metal hanging off the side of the watch:

Lastly, your own picture posted above rather settles any question of whether this is a white (off white?) dial, and even gives some vague information about dial details:

From those images, I’m making a guess at Fortis Cosmonaute.

While I don’t know of a gold Fortis with a white dial, Fortis has made both gold Cosmonaute’s and white-dialed Cosmonaute’s. I see no reason to think that Fortis wouldn’t/couldn’t combine those elements, possibly for Roscosmos to commemorate the first all-Russian crew in some time?

On the other hand, is it clear that watch has a bezel at all?
